What to do if your child keeps waking up while sleeping

Children sleep restlessly, always rolling around and waking up countless times all night. In addition to affecting the children, it is also the beginning of a nightmare for parents. But why do children have such symptoms and what is the reason? In addition to environmental factors that cause restless sleep, it is very likely caused by the baby's discomfort or anxiety. Therefore, we must start from the deep end according to the cause to solve the problem of the baby always waking up during sleep.

Studies have shown that the duration of a baby's sleep is very important to the baby's growth. The more times a baby wakes up at night or the longer the sleep interruptions are, the more likely the baby will be inattentive and irritable during the day. What's worse, it will affect the baby's emotional intelligence development.

The baby is in the light sleep stage at the beginning, and each time lasts about 45 minutes. This is normal, so parents don’t need to worry too much. Try not to disturb the baby during the light sleep period. The baby will gradually transition from one stage to another in sleep, and over time, he will get used to deep sleep.

Don’t think that only adults experience anxiety, babies also experience it. Babies aged 6-18 months are prone to waking up in the middle of the night and feeling lonely and anxious. Parents can turn on a night light, stay next to the baby when the baby wakes up, and gently pat the baby's body until the baby falls asleep. If the baby often has this situation, parents should use verbal comfort in addition to patting the baby, and then gradually reduce patting and verbal comfort until the baby can fall asleep normally.

If your baby always wakes up at night, it may be because he sleeps too much during the day, which makes him not want to sleep at night and want to continue playing. Parents can appropriately reduce the baby’s daytime sleep time, or let the baby play by himself. When the baby is tired, he will naturally fall asleep.

In addition to these, illness can also cause babies to sleep poorly at night and wake up frequently. For these problems, parents should take their babies to the doctor as soon as possible. Once the baby is healthy, he will sleep well.
