Can children's tics heal themselves without treatment?

Parents need to pay attention to the problem of tics in children, because if it continues for a long time, it will affect the child's future growth and life. Don't think that it can heal itself as the child grows older. This situation needs to be solved through some medication and treatment in life.

1. Childhood tics are motor or vocal muscle spasms that often occur in childhood, and are mainly manifested by involuntary, stereotyped movements, such as frequent blinking, making strange faces, shaking the head, shrugging, coughing, clearing the throat, etc. Some parents and friends think that this disease will slowly heal itself as the child grows older, which is really a wrong statement.

2. Generally speaking, it is difficult for children with Tourette syndrome to return to normal without relying on medication. Many parents think that tics do not require treatment and that they will heal themselves as their children grow older. According to clinical observations, if tics are not treated promptly and effectively, children will not heal on their own. Children with Tourette syndrome have poor self-control ability. Affected by the tic symptoms, they are often discriminated against and ridiculed by teachers and classmates, leaving a shadow on the children.

3. Drug treatment

The main side effects of the drugs are sedation and extrapyramidal side effects.

(3) Clonidine can improve tic symptoms, with an efficacy of 50% to 86%. This drug can also improve symptoms of attention deficit and hyperactivity, and is the first choice for those with comorbid ADHD or those who develop tic symptoms due to the use of central nervous system stimulants to treat ADHD. Currently, the main domestic products are transdermal patches. Side effects include drowsiness, hypotension, dizziness, dry mouth, etc.
