Children can usually eat at nine to ten months old, but mothers should note that the change from infants and breastfeeding to eating is a difficult and transitional period. During this period, both mothers and babies are in great pain because babies will not like weaning, and weaning for mothers will also cause the pain of milk backflow. Therefore, weaning needs to be gradual, which is better.

As the child's digestion and absorption functions gradually improve and nutritional needs gradually increase, in the fifth month, whether the child is breastfed, bottle-fed, or mixed-fed, supplementary food should be added according to the following methods to prepare the child for weaning, so that the child can adapt to all kinds of food and slowly transition to the diet of older children and adults.

Principles of complementary food addition:

(1) Start with less and then increase to more, such as starting with 1/4 egg yolk. If there is no adverse reaction, increase to 1/3-1/2 in 2-3 days, and then gradually eat one egg yolk.

(2) From thin to thick, drink rice soup for about 10 days and drink thin porridge for about 10 days.

(3) From fine to coarse, vegetable juice - vegetable puree - chopped vegetables.

(4) Get used to one and then add the other.

(5) Add the medicine when the child is healthy and has normal digestive function. If any reaction occurs, stop for two days and continue again when the child recovers.

Timing of adding complementary food:

(1) Start with dinner after 4 months, adding complementary foods first and then feeding milk, following the above principles. Depending on the child’s situation, dinner can generally be completely replaced by complementary foods after 1 month.

(2) At 6-7 months, dinner is gradually replaced by complementary foods. Starting from lunch, complementary foods are gradually added. By the ninth month, lunch and dinner can be replaced by ordinary foods instead of breast milk and milk. Complementary foods can also be added to breakfast. The child can be fed three times instead of five times, once at 5-6 am, once at 9-10 pm, and once at 1-2 pm.

(3) At one year old, the baby can basically transition to a mixed diet consisting mainly of grains, beans, meat, eggs, vegetables and fruits.

When a child just starts to eat, he can eat a little egg yolk. First, you can mix it with some rice and milk. This way, the child will gradually get used to the eating habit. This process is quite difficult, so you must persevere, and also pay attention to the child's comprehensive nutritional intake. May your child grow up healthily.
