What should I do if my child has nasal polyps?

No matter what symptoms a child has, it makes parents feel uncomfortable. However, children will always have some problems during childhood. Nasal polyps are also a major disease that plagues children. When children have nasal polyps, many parents don’t know how to deal with it. Most people think that this disease does not need to be treated urgently. This is incorrect. Let the editor introduce how to treat it!

Nasal polyps diet therapy:

①Cook kelp with rice vinegar: 60 grams of kelp (dried), add appropriate amount of rice vinegar and cook. Note: Do not use if you have gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer or excessive stomach acid.

② Magnolia flower stewed with eggs: 10.12 grams of magnolia flower, 2 eggs, add appropriate amount of water and cook together. When the eggs are cooked, peel them and cook them into slices. Drink the soup and eat the eggs.

③ Houttuynia cordata stewed with pig lungs: 60 grams of fresh houttuynia cordata, about 200 grams of pig lungs, add appropriate amount of water to boil soup, season with a little salt, drink the soup and eat the pig lungs.

Surgery for nasal polyps:

For those whose nasal cavity is mostly or completely blocked, which seriously affects physiological functions, surgical treatment should be performed first. The patient should undergo a full-body examination before surgery. If the patient suffers from cardiovascular disease, asthma attack, etc., surgery should be performed only after the condition stabilizes. There are two main surgical methods: simple nasal polypectomy and intranasal ethmoid sinus resection.

①Simple nasal polypectomy

Used for pedicle clearance in patients with no previous history of nasal polypectomy. Under local anesthesia, a nasal polyp snare is used to trap the main part of the polyp, which is then tightened and quickly pulled out from the nose to remove the polyp along with its pedicle. If any roots remain, remove them cleanly with forceps. Pulling out the polyp can sometimes open the ethmoid sinus. At this time, if the ethmoid mucosa has become polypoid, an intranasal ethmoid sinus resection should be performed at the same time.

② Endonasal ethmoid sinus resection

It is mainly suitable for patients whose ethmoid sinus mucosa has been replaced by polyp tissue and who have a history of multiple nasal polypectomies. During the operation, the ethmoid chamber was fully opened and the polyp in the sinus was completely removed. Complete surgery can significantly reduce the recurrence rate of polyps. The endoscopic sinus surgery developed in recent years has provided a sophisticated, accurate and effective method for ethmoid sinus resection, which has significantly reduced the recurrence rate of nasal polyps after surgery. Literature reports that the recurrence rate can be reduced to below 20%.

After reading the introduction above, you should have a certain understanding of nasal polyps. If your child has this phenomenon, it is best to take the child to the hospital for examination. It is the best choice to take reasonable treatment according to the condition. If necessary, give the child surgical treatment in time. Do not delay the condition to avoid other symptoms.
