Will the red birthmark on a newborn baby go away?

Will the red birthmark on a newborn baby go away?

Many parents will be particularly worried when they find birthmarks on their newborns, especially red birthmarks. Parents will definitely think that this will affect the development of their baby, or even cause their baby to be underdeveloped, or it will have a certain impact on their future appearance. The most important thing is that this red birthmark will gradually expand as the baby grows older, so more attention should be paid.

If the hemangioma lesion expands, the surface color becomes dark purple or dark red, and the surface skin bulges become more severe, it means that the hemangioma lesion is in the proliferative stage and active treatment measures should be taken. If the hemangioma lesion is located on the head, face, hands or feet and grows rapidly, special attention should be paid and timely treatment should be given to avoid excessive growth and missing the best time for treatment, which may cause facial deformity or limb disability. If a hemangioma ruptures or bleeds, you should see a doctor immediately.

If the treatment of the head and face, especially near the eyes, nose, and mouth, is delayed for a short time, it may lead to serious consequences. Therefore, the basic principle of treating hemangioma is close observation and early treatment.

There are many treatments for hemangiomas and vascular malformations, including surgical resection, laser therapy, local drug injection, copper needle therapy, radiotherapy and cryotherapy. Various treatment methods have their own advantages and disadvantages and certain indications. The choice should be based on the different development stages of vascular lesions, the type, size and location of vascular lesions, the patient's age, health condition, and the presence or absence of complications. Deep and large hemangiomas can be more completely removed surgically. Small and shallow ones can be frozen with CO2 snow, or injected with 95% alcohol, sodium morrhuate and other drugs. Recently, the use of isotope dressings has been very effective. Large and deep tumors can be treated with radiation therapy, but special care should be taken with the baby. Hormone therapy is also used. Sometimes a combination of treatments is needed to achieve a more satisfactory therapeutic effect.

Hemangioma is a common benign tumor in babies, with an incidence rate of about 1%-2%, and the incidence rate in premature infants can reach 23%. It is more common in baby girls than in baby boys, with a ratio of about 5:1.

The mother should record in detail the type of hemangioma, location of occurrence, surface color, shape and size, range of lesions, whether it is higher than the skin, etc., and record it on a plane diagram according to the measured size. Generally, it should be reviewed once a month. If the hemangioma grows too fast (sometimes capillary hemangiomas can grow 12mm a day), the patient should be reexamined once a week and the results should be compared with the last examination. If the range of the hemangioma lesion is found to be reduced, the surface color becomes lighter, and the height of the skin protrusion becomes flatter, it means that the hemangioma lesion is in a stable or regressing period and the patient can continue to be observed and wait for it to regress.

In fact, for babies, this kind of red birthmark will not disappear on its own, and some treatment methods should be taken to achieve the effect of disappearing the birthmark. However, if it does not affect their normal life and development, there is no need for any special treatment. Otherwise, it will cause certain damage to their bodies, especially surgery will be risky.
