Why does my child have knee pain at night?

Sometimes I feel knee pain at night, which is particularly uncomfortable. In fact, the human knee joint is a very rough result of evolution. When human ancestors began to stand on two feet, the knees were not prepared to withstand such a great force. This can be seen from many problems with the knee ligaments and cartilage. Rotational exercises such as hiking and running can cause tightness and tension in the knees and cause injuries. What is going on? What causes children's knee pain at night? Let me introduce it to you below.

1. Symptoms: A sharp and stabbing pain occurs on the outside of your knee and a ligament on the outside of your thigh. It is connected to the outside of your knee and is used to fix and connect the muscle on the outside of the thigh to the knee joint. This is a complex structure involving two joints and three tendons... When this ligament straightens your leg during pedaling, it rubs against a piece of cartilage on the outside of the knee, causing this pain. People with bowed legs, pigeon-toed feet, a wide pelvis, genu varum (a problem in which the knees turn inward or even collide when stepping or walking), and flat feet are more likely to have this problem.

Treatment: This is a rare knee problem. You need to reduce the force of knee extension to reduce the friction between the ligament and cartilage. In addition to ice compresses, stretching exercises for the lateral thigh ligaments can also help.

2. Symptoms: Pain behind the kneecap caused by going up and down stairs or ramps, with the tenderness point on the kneecap.

Diagnosis: Thigh and knee pain syndrome

Treatment: Walking is actually not very helpful for this symptom, and long-distance and high-load walking should be avoided. Doing proper rehabilitation exercises to strengthen your rectus femoris (a muscle in the middle of the thigh that is important in stabilizing the kneecap) can help prevent the occurrence and aggravation of this often-annoying symptom. I think this is the most common symptom.

3. Symptoms: There is an extra piece of inner membrane on the edge of the kneecap on the inner side of the knee. Seventy percent of people have this useless vestigial organ. Some people will cause friction between this membrane and the kneecap when walking, usually because the knees are bent too much or turned outward when walking.

Diagnosis: Inflammation of the medial ligament

Treatment methods: ice compress, massage, straighten the knee as much as possible, change the outward-facing posture, and some more serious cases require surgery to remove the dura mater.

4. Symptoms: Obvious pain in the thick ligament below the kneecap, often called "spring knee injury" because people who suffer this injury usually do exercises that exceed the ligament load when they resume exercise in early spring. Too much weight training or not keeping your knees warm can also cause the same problem.

Diagnosis: Knee tendinitis

Treatment method: After applying ice for five minutes, massage along the ligament and repeat several times. In addition, electrotherapy or ultrasound therapy are also quite effective.

The above introduction is about why children have knee pain at night. I believe everyone has understood it. I also want to tell you what causes knee pain when sleeping at night. I think everyone already knows it. You still need to pay attention to your posture when sleeping. It is best to reduce the pressure on your knees. Of course, you should also pay attention to exercising more often. Only by exercising regularly can you prevent some physical discomfort.
