What is considered precocious puberty?

Some female friends will feel that their babies are different from other babies after giving birth, but there are no particularly obvious symptoms at this time. Most of the symptoms begin to appear when the baby is over two years old. The most common thing for girls is that their breasts begin to enlarge, and their height directly exceeds that of children of the same age, and they may even grow taller, which will cause the bones to develop prematurely.

Precocious puberty

Medical experts believe that if a girl develops pubic and armpit hair before the age of 8, has enlarged breasts, has her first menstruation before the age of 10, and is taller and heavier than other children of the same age, she is experiencing precocious puberty. The harm of precocious puberty to babies is that at the beginning the child's height seems to be much taller than children of the same age. However, because children with precocious puberty are often accompanied by premature bone development and premature closure of the epiphysis, they often fail to reach the expected adult height when they grow up. After adulthood, they are 3 to 5 cm shorter than they should be. It also has adverse effects on the baby's psychology.

Disease signs

Girls who experience precocious puberty often first experience breast enlargement and breast tenderness. Both breasts may enlarge at the same time, but it may also be that only one breast enlarges and then develops to the other side.

Before the age of 8, the baby's reproductive organs are not developed and there will be no secretions. If the mother sees leucorrhea-like secretions from the baby's vulva when bathing the baby, and the baby's height growth is accelerated, the mother should be careful.

If not treated promptly and appropriately, pubic, axillary and vaginal bleeding may occur later. It usually starts with irregular vaginal bleeding, which gradually transitions to regular menstruation.

At present, the age of sexual development of children in my country tends to be gradually advanced. For example, the age of menarche for girls has been advanced from 14-16 years old before liberation to 12-14 years old. Some parents are very worried about whether their children suffer from "precocious puberty". At present, although it is difficult to completely determine the absolute boundary between the onset of normal adolescent sexual development and precocious puberty, because there is a certain variation in the onset time of puberty and sexual development of each normal child, there are relatively authoritative diagnostic standards for precocious puberty both internationally and domestically. It is generally believed both internationally and domestically that precocious puberty occurs when a girl develops one or more secondary sexual characteristics such as breast enlargement, pubic hair, and increased vaginal discharge before the age of 8, or starts menstruating before the age of 10; and when a boy develops a deeper voice, enlarged testicles, growth of pubic hair, or nocturnal emission before the age of 10. If the above situation occurs, it is necessary for parents to take their children to the local hospital for examination.

To sum up, we have clearly understood what constitutes precocious puberty, so when parents find that their children have these conditions, they must not ignore it and must go to the hospital for detailed examination in time. This disease mostly occurs in girls, so they will feel tenderness in their breasts.
