What medicine is better for children with ascariasis?

Children's bodies are always weak, and their immunity may also be weak, which leads to various problems. When I was a child, I was a veritable "pathogen" and had all kinds of strange symptoms. Ascaris in children's stomach is a common disease that is difficult to cure. So what kind of medicine should you choose at this time? Let’s learn together.

1. Larva migrans

It occurs in people who eat raw vegetables, fruits and melons containing a large number of fertilized roundworm eggs in a short period of time. The incubation period is 7-9 days. Low fever, fatigue, and a few cases are accompanied by urticaria or rash. There is a foreign body sensation in the throat, paroxysmal coughing, often in an asthma-like manner, with little sputum, occasionally sputum with blood, and dry rales heard in the chest. The shadows on both sides of the hilum of the chest X-ray deepen, the lung texture increases, and there are dot-like, flaky or flocculent infiltration shadows, which disappear in 1-2 weeks. Sputum examination may reveal eosinophils and Charcot-Leyden crystals, and occasionally larvae. The course of the disease lasts 7-10 days and gradually improves.

⒉ Intestinal ascariasis

The vast majority of cases have no symptoms. Children often have abdominal pain, which is recurring and irregular around the umbilicus, without tenderness or abdominal muscle tension, accompanied by loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea or constipation, and the excretion of roundworms in the stool. Children sometimes have convulsions, night terrors, teeth grinding, and pica. complication

⒈ Biliary complications are clinically manifested in five types: biliary colic, acute cholecystitis, acute cholangitis, acute pancreatitis and liver abscess. 2. Intestinal complications

It manifests as mechanical intestinal obstruction, which is mostly incomplete. Paroxysmal periumbilical pain, frequent vomiting, marked abdominal distension, intestinal pattern and peristaltic waves. The characteristic of this disease is the palpation of a cord-like mass in the abdomen. Abdominal X-ray showed fluid level and intestinal inflation. Prolonged obstruction may lead to intestinal perforation and intestinal torsion. Ascaris burrowing into the appendix can cause appendicitis.

⒊ Ascaris peritonitis Ascaris can pass through the small intestinal wall into the abdominal cavity, causing symptoms of peritonitis such as abdominal pain, bloating, and tenderness in the entire abdomen. Ascaris and egg granulomas may be found during surgery. [Diagnosis] [Treatment] 1. Anthelmintic treatment with benzimidazoles

It is a broad-spectrum nematode drug. Albendazole 400 mg, taken all at once. Mebendazole is in the form of C-type crystalline microgranules, 500 mg taken at once. Ascaris can be eliminated in 2-4 days. The efficacy is over 90%, and there are generally no side effects. Pyrantel

Broad-spectrum nematode drug. Adults: 500 mg, taken all at once. For children, take 10 mg/kg at a time. Pregnant women and patients with liver, kidney, or heart disease should temporarily suspend this drug. Piperazine

It has anticholine effect and paralyzes the muscles of the insect body. Adults: 3g, children: 80-100mg/kg each time, take once on an empty stomach or at night, for 2 consecutive days. It is contraindicated for patients with liver or kidney disease and epilepsy. The cure rate is 70%-80% at one time.

Levamisole for adults: 150-200 mg, taken all at once. It may occasionally cause toxic encephalopathy and should be used with caution. ⒉ Treatment of biliary ascariasis

The principle is to relieve spasms and pain, and to deworm and fight infection in the early stage. Atropine 0.5 mg plus promethazine 25 mg, intramuscular injection or intravenous drip. Ascaris mostly exit from the bile duct. For deworming, you can take albendazole or mebendazole orally. Anti-infection drugs should be used appropriately for those with fever. ERCP is effective in diagnosis and deworming. Patients with complications such as acute suppurative cholangitis, liver abscess, and hemorrhagic necrotizing pancreatitis require surgical treatment.

3. Ascaris ileus

The patient should fast, decompress the gastrointestinal tract, relieve spasms and pain, replenish fluids, correct dehydration and acidosis, and take 60 ml of soybean oil and peanut oil, which can loosen the ascaris mass. Deworming after abdominal pain is relieved. Patients with complications such as intestinal necrosis, perforation, peritonitis and complete intestinal obstruction should undergo surgery promptly.

[Prognosis] [Prevention] 1. Pay attention to food hygiene, do not eat unclean raw or cold food, and make sure to wash raw vegetables and fruits before eating.

2. Develop good hygiene habits and do not defecate anywhere. The transmission route of ascariasis is that the eggs of ascaris are excreted from the body with feces, which then contaminate the surrounding environment and can also contaminate vegetables, fruits, etc. Once swallowed, it can become infectious. Wash your hands before and after meals, and cut your nails frequently. Children should not suck their fingers.

After reading the above information, I believe everyone has a certain understanding of the disease of roundworms in children's stomachs. Children's health is really important, as it will affect all their problems, so we should pay more attention to whether the baby's stool is normal and control their hygienic diet.
