What should I do if my child vomits and has diarrhea?

Diarrhea is one of the four most common childhood diseases for babies, especially after autumn, when diarrhea is at its peak, which makes parents very worried. Children with diarrhea usually start with fever and vomiting for a few days, followed by diarrhea. In fact, as long as you take good care of your children in daily life and do things to prevent seasonal diarrhea, you can avoid the occurrence of the disease. Below I will introduce some methods to prevent diarrhea.

The course of autumn diarrhea is generally 3 to 7 days, but many young children will suffer from it for two to three weeks without any improvement. The reason is that viral infection causes diarrhea, which affects the lactase in the villi of the small intestine. If the lactase in the intestine recovers quickly, the diarrhea can be cured slowly; but if the child's small intestine is severely damaged, the lactase will recover slowly, which will lead to prolonged illness.

Prevention methods for vomiting and diarrhea in autumn

(1) Avoid excessive consumption of high-fat foods and pay attention to indoor ventilation. (During the Mid-Autumn Festival, Jiayihe Kindergarten reminds you to let your children eat less mooncakes, because mooncakes are high in fat and sugar, difficult to digest, and can easily cause indigestion and vomiting.)

(2) Do not eat raw or cold food. When eating ready-made cooked food, you must pay attention to the production date, variety and quality. It is best not to eat cooked food sold outside. Try to let your children drink less beverages, especially carbonated drinks.

(3) Do not take children to crowded public places and avoid contact with sick children.

(4) Pay attention to hygiene and have your children wash their hands frequently before meals and after going to the toilet. Toys used by children and furniture that they can touch should be rinsed frequently with clean water. Hands must be washed before eating. Parents should also wash their hands before feeding or eating for their children, and rinse them with running water.

(5) To prevent viral infection, keep the temperature evenly distributed to prevent colds and enable children to resist rotavirus attacks.

The above are methods to prevent diarrhea and vomiting in children. It would be very helpful for parents to understand them carefully. It is crucial to take preventive measures in autumn, which is the peak season for vomiting and diarrhea in children. Many parents rush to treat their children when they see that they are suffering from diarrhea and give them anti-diarrhea drugs without consulting a doctor. This is wrong. They must go to the hospital to confirm the cause of the disease before treatment.
