What are the symptoms of acute pharyngitis in babies?

Acute pharyngitis is a relatively common disease. Suffering from acute pharyngitis can cause great harm to our body, so it is necessary for us to understand the disease of acute pharyngitis, which can help us better prevent and treat the disease. However, many people do not understand the symptoms of diseases such as acute pharyngitis. So what are the symptoms of acute pharyngitis in babies?

The symptoms of acute pharyngitis are quite obvious, so it is easy for us to identify it. There are many treatments for acute pharyngitis. We can use general treatments, local treatments, and anti-infection treatments.

Acute pharyngitis is an acute inflammation of the pharyngeal mucosa, submucosal tissue and lymphatic tissue. It is most common in winter and spring and is usually caused by viruses or bacteria. Most of them are secondary to acute rhinitis, acute sinusitis, acute tonsillitis, and are often complications of infectious diseases such as measles, influenza, and scarlet fever. Catching cold, fatigue, long-term stimulation by chemical gases or dust, excessive smoking, etc., can reduce the body's resistance and these factors can easily lead to the occurrence of this disease.

The onset is acute. At the beginning, the throat is dry and burning, followed by pain. The pain worsens when swallowing and can radiate to the ears. Sometimes there is general discomfort, joint pain, headache, loss of appetite and fever to varying degrees. Examination showed diffuse congestion and swelling of the oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal mucosa, edema of the palatine arch and suspensory peduncle, redness and swelling of the posterior pharyngeal wall lymph follicles and lateral pharyngeal cords; there were yellow-white punctate exudates on the surface, and the mandibular lymph nodes were enlarged and tender. The body temperature may rise to 38°C, and the white blood cell count may be increased, normal, or decreased depending on the pathogen.

1. General treatment: Rest in bed, drink plenty of water, and can also be combined with Chinese herbal medicine. The above methods are very important for the early recovery of acute pharyngitis, but they are often ignored by patients and parents, resulting in prolonged illness or complications of other diseases. If sore throat affects the patient's ability to eat, intravenous fluids and nutritional supplements should be given. For those with severe sore throat or high body temperature, APC can be taken orally, 0.5 grams each time, or intramuscular injection of Antongding, Chaihu injection, etc.

2. Local treatment: take lysozyme tablets, domifen throat lozenges, iodine lozenges, etc.; gargle frequently with warm and light salt water; in the early stage of the disease, 1% iodine glycerin or 2% silver nitrate solution can be applied to the pharyngeal wall to help subside inflammation; nebulization or fumigation treatment, inhalation of medicinal gas, is effective for local inflammation and the patient also feels comfortable.

3. Anti-infection treatment: For those infected with viruses, antiviral drugs such as morphine, amantadine, interferon, etc. can be used; for those infected with bacteria, antibiotics and sulfonamides can be taken orally or injected. Traditional Chinese medicine has a good effect on both viral and bacterial infections.

The above are the symptoms of acute pharyngitis in babies. Only if we understand some of the symptoms of acute pharyngitis clearly can we discover this type of disease in time in daily life so that we can get timely treatment. Moreover, the disease pharyngitis is very harmful to our body, especially to young babies, so we must pay attention to it.
