What to do if your child has anorexia and picky eating

In the early childhood period, children generally tend to suffer from anorexia and picky eating. Parents must not allow their children to develop anorexia and picky eating habits, as this is very detrimental to the child's growth and development. For example, many children now like to eat meat or fried food, and will not eat vegetables or fruits. In the long run, this will lead to obesity. Conversely, it will easily cause the body to be too thin and have low resistance.

Adjust your diet. The food given to children should be diversified, not only in variety but also in preparation methods. This will effectively improve children's anorexia and picky eating symptoms. You can eat noodles today, steamed buns tomorrow, and rice the day after tomorrow; similarly, you can boil eggs today, steam them tomorrow, and fry them the day after tomorrow, and so on. If your child really doesn't like a certain food, you can change its shape by chopping it, pureeing it, juicing it, or cutting it into molds, and then add it to other foods and cook it together. This way, your child will like to eat it. If you have time, you can make pasta (such as rice) into cartoon characters to stimulate children's appetite.

Pay attention to your child's physical condition. When a child shows anorexia or is picky about food and the above methods are not feasible, pay attention to whether the child has indigestion, abdominal bloating, or a cold, etc. Among them, indigestion is the most common. You can give your child some granules or hawthorn slices to increase beneficial intestinal bacteria.

Strengthen psychological intervention. When children become picky eaters, parents should eat with them more often, encourage them more, and help them gradually like food from the heart. For example: "Child, open your mouth wide and eat. You are the best. XX doesn't eat as much as you do!" If conditions permit, you can let several children eat together. This will not only increase children's interest in eating, but also, under the guidance of the mentality of "if others can do it, so can I", children will be able to eat food they originally disliked.

When a young child shows signs of anorexia or picky eating, we parents must first understand the situation. We can take the child for a check-up to find out if it is because of roundworms in the stomach, or zinc deficiency, or if the meals we prepare for the child every day are too monotonous, or if the child is feeling unwell. These are all things parents need to pay attention to.
