When should you brush your baby's teeth?

When should you brush your baby's teeth?

Every day when the baby sees his parents brushing their teeth, he is very curious and wants to brush his teeth too. And when they reach a certain age, for the sake of oral health, children should learn and get into the habit of brushing their teeth every day. Parents must know the correct way to teach their babies to brush their teeth. Some people think that babies do not need to brush their teeth when they are deciduous teeth because their teeth are small and their gums are tender, and they will have new teeth in the future. This is wrong. We must cultivate good habits of brushing teeth in babies from an early age. Let’s take a look at when to brush your baby’s teeth.

1. The first stage: When the baby starts to grow the first tooth, that is, from about 6 months, the baby's teeth should be brushed. Of course, the brushing mentioned here does not require the use of a toothbrush. Instead, parents wrap their index finger with clean gauze and dip it in clean water to help the baby clean the mouth and wash away the attachments on the teeth and gums. This oral care method generally continues until the child is two and a half years old, at which time all the deciduous teeth in the mouth have erupted.

2. The second stage: Starting from the age of two and a half, parents should choose a toothbrush suitable for this age group for their children. Twice a day, morning and evening, parents should stand behind their children and teach them the correct way to brush their teeth (the brushing method). Because children at this age already have a certain level of understanding and expression, as long as parents guide them patiently from the basics to the advanced, I believe it will not be difficult for children to master the correct way to brush their teeth.

3. The third stage: From the age of 3, children have completed half a year of transitional training and should be able to complete the brushing action independently. But children at this time are still very naughty and lack initiative and self-awareness. Parents should usually play a supervisory and guiding role to help their children develop good oral hygiene habits so that their children can have healthy and beautiful teeth.

4. The toothbrush must have soft bristles and be a size suitable for the child's mouth (children's toothbrushes are available in supermarkets). It is best to use fluoride-containing toothpaste, such as sodium fluoride, strontium fluoride, chlorophyll toothpaste, etc., which play a certain role in preventing tooth decay. But don't let your children eat toothpaste, and don't let them drink mouthwash after brushing their teeth. Rinse your mouth several times. It is important to cultivate correct toothbrushing habits in children.

5. When parents squeeze toothpaste for their children, they must strictly control the amount, generally to the size of a soybean. It is recommended that parents start teaching their children how to brush their teeth when they are very young and let them imitate. They can also let their children brush their teeth with salt water instead of toothpaste.

The above is a brief introduction to the instructions for brushing your baby’s teeth when he is young. Brushing your baby's teeth can not only clean their teeth, but also promote the metabolism of teeth and make the gums healthier. Be sure to pay attention to protecting your child's teeth, otherwise it will cause various dental discomforts. We should pay attention to the baby's diet and habits in normal times, so as to better help the baby maintain good physical condition.
