What to do if a child has a minor burn?

Scalding is everywhere. Many children often do not pay attention to the danger due to accidents. Coupled with the neglect of parents, you will let your baby get scalded. For example, if you are scalded by hot water, the skin will become red and swollen, and blisters will appear. If you are scalded by oil, the skin will be ulcerated. What should I do if my child is slightly scalded? How can I deal with it in time?

In life, it is inevitable that babies may get accidentally scalded due to parental negligence or accidents. When encountering this situation, parents should learn how to deal with burns in a timely manner.

If the skin is only red and swollen (first-degree burn), local analgesia is mainly used. The scalded area should be immersed in clean cold water immediately. The earlier it is immersed, the better the effect will be, and the lower the water temperature, the better the effect will be, but it should not be lower than 6℃.

The soaking time should generally last more than half an hour. Timely heat dissipation can reduce the pain or degree of burns.

Then rinse and clean the wound with cold boiled water (or light salt water). For wounds on the limbs and trunk, apply comfrey oil or burn ointment (never use toothpaste or soy sauce), and then wrap them with gauze. Remember not to remove the clothes that are stuck to the wound, even if they get wet. If necessary, cut off any clothing that is stuck to your skin.

When the baby's scalded skin turns light red or pale, blisters appear or the blisters burst to reveal red wounds, and continue to ooze water, it is a second-degree burn; more serious burns are not limited to the skin, but involve subcutaneous tissue and muscles, and the skin turns white or becomes charred.

While paying attention to protecting the wound and letting the baby drink more light salt water, the baby should be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately. Severe burns on the head, face and neck may cause shock at any time, so the baby should be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately. In addition, burns to the perineum also need to be treated in the hospital.

The above article introduces what to do if a child has minor burns. First of all, parents must not ignore it. If it is a minor burn, you can do some home treatment for the child at home. Usually, do not let the baby's skin come into contact with water after the burn to prevent skin infection.
