What should I do if my child has a hunched back?

In daily life, every parent hopes that their children can have an upright body. Generally speaking, if many children develop bad habits when they are young, their posture will appear hunchback and scoliosis when they grow up, which will be impossible to correct. For such an image, many parents are very troubled and don’t know what to do. Today, I will introduce to you how to deal with children with hunchbacks!

As the saying goes, "If you don't walk on the road, the grass will grow into a hut; if you sit or stand improperly, your back will become hunched." Young people are in the stage of growing up, and their bones are also in the period of gradually completing ossification and bone connection. If they do not pay attention to physical exercise and overcome bad living habits, such as often sitting or standing with a hunched back, it will easily affect the development of the spine.

It may even cause hunchback deformity, which not only affects the beauty of the body, but also reduces the elasticity of the spine, making it easy to get tired and lose physical strength while working. According to a spinal examination of 3,668 adolescents in a certain place, 7.1% of the adolescents had hunchback deformity to varying degrees. It can be seen that hunchback is a common spinal deformity among teenagers today.

There are many reasons for spinal deformity in adolescents with hunchback. Except for some spinal tuberculosis and rickets, most of them are caused by bad living habits. If you often hunch your back when sitting or standing, read a book half-lying and half-sitting, and almost lie on the table with your whole body when writing, with your head tilted and your shoulders slanted, over time, the spine will develop excessive kyphosis of the thoracic segment due to unbalanced force, which is a hunchback deformity.

However, since the body shape of young people has not yet been finalized, hunchback and hunchback are mostly caused by bad living habits. Therefore, as long as bad living habits are corrected in time and training of relevant muscle groups is strengthened, most of them can be corrected.

(1) Correct bad living habits. First of all, we must realize that bad posture is the main cause of hunchback. Prevention of hunchback should start from childhood and start from daily life. Develop the correct reading and writing posture from an early age. Whether eating or watching TV, you should keep a straight back and chest out and make it a habit.

There are already teenagers with hunched backs. When reading or watching TV, do not sit in an armchair or sofa. Instead, sit on a square stool of appropriate height, with the knees and hip joints of both lower limbs at 90 degrees. Keep your back straight, chest up and head up. After persisting for a period of time, you can gradually achieve the goal of correcting hunchback.

(2) Chest-lifting method: Place your hands flat on the windowsill or podium with your palms facing down and your legs straight. Then bend over and lift your chest so that your upper body and legs form a right angle and press your upper body down as much as possible. If you have an obvious kyphosis in your back, you can ask someone to put their hands on your back to apply pressure. When exercising, keep your abdomen in and do not bend your knees.

After completing the above movements, sit on a chair, spread your legs as wide as your shoulders, bend your knees 90 degrees so that your thighs and calves are vertical, straighten your upper body, place your hands flat on the table as wide as your shoulders, bend your elbows 90 degrees so that your upper arms and forearms are vertical, then push your chest forward as much as possible, and continue for 3 minutes each time.

The above article introduces what to do if your child has a hunchback. In fact, most hunchbacks are closely related to bad habits in life. Generally speaking, if you want to correct a child’s hunchback habits, you must let the child know what posture is correct and what consequences will result from a certain sitting posture. Therefore, parents still need to maintain a certain degree of patience.
