What should I do if my child has a fever and his lips turn red?

In theory, a child's fever is not a very serious problem, because in most cases as long as the body temperature is not particularly high, such as a high fever of 40 degrees, it can usually be cured by physical cooling or drug treatments. However, because the child is still young, if the fever is not treated effectively, it will cause great harm to the body. So, why do children have red lips when they have a fever?

Many pediatric diseases can be identified by the color of the lips. For example, if your lips appear bluish purple for a long time, it is likely cyanosis, which indicates that there is a problem with your heart. If cyanosis occurs for a long time, you should go to the hospital for examination, as it indicates a respiratory system disease. The normal color of a child's lips is pink. In particular, if a child has red lips, it is caused by a cold or fever. Long-term high blood pressure and vigorous blood circulation can also cause the child's lips to turn red.

When a child has a fever, it is important to make a correct judgment, especially to determine the baby's normal body temperature. If the fever is below 37.4℃, no treatment is needed. If the temperature exceeds 39 degrees, you can give your child antipyretics, either orally or through antipyretic suppositories. Give your child plenty of water to promote urine excretion, which is helpful for reducing fever. If the fever does not exceed 38 degrees, you can use physical cooling methods, such as an ice pillow or alcohol bath. You should observe your child at ordinary times, and if his lips turn red, you must check whether he has a fever.

It is very common for babies to have a fever. Many parents are helpless when facing a child's fever, especially when the child's fever is very high. It is incorrect to blindly give the child antipyretics. You need to judge the temperature of the child's fever. If the child's lips are red, measure the child's temperature. If the child has a fever and the temperature is very high, you can take antipyretics appropriately and take the correct method to reduce the temperature.
