After the child is born, many young mothers are very unfamiliar with the amount of milk to feed because it is the first time they are breastfeeding. They are not very clear about how much to feed their children. Some mothers may even be unfamiliar with when their children are hungry, which will cause malnutrition and development in their children. So at this time, let us understand the amount of breast milk for babies. Breast milk is the best source of food for babies, but one of the biggest disadvantages of breastfeeding is that it is difficult to understand how much milk the baby has consumed and whether the baby has consumed too much or not enough. Some mothers use the time the baby feeds to measure how much milk the baby eats. Many doctors and nurses also teach this. However, sometimes the baby is dry-sucking when feeding and does not swallow the milk. These dry-sucking times are useless for judging how much milk the baby eats. What is really useful is to look at the time the baby swallows the milk. For example, after the baby sucks for two minutes at the beginning, let him lie down slightly, and the baby begins to swallow the milk, one mouthful at a time. After two minutes, he swallows two mouthfuls at a time. After another minute, he swallows three or four mouthfuls at a time. Then, let the baby continue to suck for three minutes, let him lie down again, and let the baby swallow for another two minutes. By this calculation, the baby spends more than ten minutes sucking in the mother's arms, but only five or six minutes actually swallowing milk. When a new mother starts breastfeeding, the baby will suck for a longer time, and the time actually swallowing the milk will generally be shorter. Therefore, don’t mistakenly assume that your baby is full just because he or she holds the nipple for a long time. During each feeding, the baby takes more than ten minutes to swallow the milk (during which time I let the baby lie down three or four times to swallow the milk). This means the baby is generally eating well. If your baby still seems hungry, you should let him continue to eat. If your baby spits out the nipple while swallowing big gulps, it may be that the baby is tired and needs to be allowed to take a breath before continuing to eat. We have learned about the amount of breast milk a baby needs. First of all, parents should breastfeed their children regularly and on time. First of all, they should observe when the child is hungry and when the child cries. It is recommended that parents breastfeed correctly so that the child will grow up healthy and strong. |
