What to do if the baby is scalded by hot water

What to do if the baby is scalded by hot water

If there is a baby at home, there must be someone to take care of him at all times, because many things at home are very dangerous for children, such as a kettle. If the boiling water is knocked over by the baby, the hot water will scald the baby's skin, and it may even be serious, because burns may cause permanent damage. So the question is, what should parents do if their baby gets scalded by hot water?

What to do if the baby is scalded by hot water

1. Remove clothing

When your baby is scalded by hot water while wearing clothes, if you cannot take off the clothes immediately, you can let the baby soak in the bathtub before taking off the clothes, or use scissors to cut the clothes off.

2. Cold water cooling

After removing clothes, rinse and soak the burned area with plenty of tap water to cool the wound. Generally, a cooling time of about 15 minutes is sufficient.

3. Apply medicated oil

If the baby's burns are not serious and no wounds are caused, parents can just apply medicated oil on the affected area.

4. Wrapping

After applying the medicine, wrap the baby directly with a sterile cloth, a clean handkerchief or gauze and send him to the hospital for treatment. Be careful not to apply any external medication to avoid wound infection.

5. Send to hospital

Even if the baby has only suffered minor burns, it is best to go to a hospital with burn plastic surgery for treatment.

Parents should remember not to panic after their baby is scalded. The following methods can be used for treatment.

1. If you are accidentally scalded by boiling water, immediately find some white wine at home. It doesn’t matter how hot it is, and gently rub the injured area with the white wine.

2. First rinse the injured area with cold water, and then soak the injured area in cold water for half an hour. Generally speaking, the earlier the soaking time and the lower the water temperature, the better the effect.

3. Gently apply light salt water to the burned area to reduce inflammation.

4. Mix egg white, cooked honey or sesame oil and apply it to the injured area. It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

5. Cut a few slices of raw pear and apply them to the burned area, which has an astringent and analgesic effect.

6. Apply burn moisturizing ointment in time, which has a good analgesic effect and good anti-inflammatory effect.
