What to eat for tics

Tourette syndrome is common in children aged 5-12 years old. The specific symptoms are a series of strange behaviors such as sudden and frequent blinking, squinting, pouting, sticking out the tongue, twisting the neck, etc., which seriously affect the child's normal life and mental health. It is not enough to treat children with Tourette syndrome with medication alone. In daily life, parents should also take good care of the dietary needs of children with Tourette syndrome. What to eat for tics?

1. Pay attention to vitamin supplementation.

Vitamins are important components for maintaining physiological functions, especially vitamins related to brain and nerve metabolism. Such as vitamin B1, vitamin B6, etc. These vitamins are rich in brown rice, whole wheat, and alfalfa. Therefore, the daily diet of children with Tourette syndrome should not be too refined.

2. Don’t consume too much fat.

Excessive fat intake is not conducive to the treatment of tics. Therefore, parents should pay more attention to the fact that the fat intake of children with Tourette syndrome should be 20% to 25% of the total energy.

3. Pay attention to the supply of amino acids.

Amino acid supplementation helps in the treatment of tics. Glutamic acid is the highest content of free amino acids in brain tissue, followed by taurine and then aspartic acid. Therefore, parents should pay attention to the supply of amino acids for children with Tourette syndrome.

4. Pay attention to supplementing minerals and trace elements.

Minerals and trace elements are essential to our body. Taking in more calcium, magnesium, zinc and iron can improve the efficiency of mental work, which is also helpful for the treatment of children with Tourette syndrome.

Parents should not panic if their children suffer from tics. The most important thing is to take the children to a regular hospital for treatment as soon as possible. In daily life, mental excitement can easily induce tics. People with tics should develop good living habits in their daily lives, and parents should try not to let their children become too excited.
