Lumbar curvature in children

Lumbar curvature in children

The lumbar spine is an important part. During the child's growth and development stage, it is important whether the child's lumbar spine develops healthily. Nowadays, many children like to lie down when attending classes or playing with mobile phones, which causes a certain degree of lumbar curvature. It not only affects the child's body shape, but also causes many physical harms. At this time, parents should pay attention to these problems, discover and correct them in time. What causes lumbar spine problems in children and how to prevent them?

1. What causes lumbar curvature?

1. Birth injury: damage to the baby's young spine caused by the mother during the birth process;

2. Sports injuries: inappropriate jumping, running, etc. during the growth process;

3. Bad posture: long-term incorrect sitting, standing, sleeping posture, etc.;

4. Congenital developmental defects.

5. Lack of exercise, the muscles and ligaments attached to both sides of the spine are weak, resulting in poor stability of the spine;

6. The force structure of the spine changes significantly after trauma, leading to abnormal development of the spine;

7. Congenital deficiency, weak and sickly, long-term use of antibiotics;

8. Acquired spleen and stomach disorders;

9. Studying pressure is high and emotions are low;

2. What to do if your lumbar spine is bent

1. Sit in a correct posture

If you need to sit for a long time, the chair must have a backrest, and the angle of the backrest cannot be greater than 115 degrees. The buttocks must be close to the backrest. If you can add a lumbar pad to the waist, the normal curvature of the lumbar spine can be maintained.

2. Walking posture must be correct

When walking, hold your chest up instead of your stomach to avoid the lumbar spine protruding forward and causing lumbar nerve compression. Pregnant women should pay special attention to this. 3. Sleeping posture must be correct

When sleeping, in order to maintain the normal curvature of the cervical spine, the pillow should be changed to a healthy pillow that conforms to the human body neck ergonomic design (conforming to the normal curvature of the neck), and it is best not to sleep with a high pillow; it is best not to sleep face down to avoid scoliosis of the cervical spine.

4. Be careful when bending over or holding heavy objects

Avoid bending over to pick up heavy objects; squat down instead; avoid holding heavy objects on one side.

5. Correct use of shoulders

When carrying heavy objects on your shoulders, you should alternate between the two shoulders and avoid using one side for a long time to prevent scoliosis of the thoracic spine.

6. Eat a balanced diet

Take enough calcium to prevent the early onset of osteoporosis. Calcium-containing foods include cheese, milk, cabbage and tofu.

7. Control your weight

Avoid overeating and being overweight, which will increase the burden on your lumbar spine.

Corrective treatment

90% of adolescents have scoliosis between 10 and 20 degrees, about 9% have scoliosis between 20 and 40 degrees, and scoliosis greater than 40 degrees is relatively rare. Children with scoliosis within 10 degrees can basically adjust themselves as long as they pay more attention to correct posture. Scoliosis between 10 and 25 degrees can generally be improved through chiropractic treatment. Most children with scoliosis between 25 and 45 degrees can improve their condition through chiropractic treatment. Children with scoliosis of more than 45 degrees can only improve their condition through surgical intervention.
