How to get rid of jaundice quickly

How to get rid of jaundice quickly

Jaundice is a problem that every newborn is likely to encounter. Jaundice is divided into different types, among which physiological jaundice is the most common and the easiest to recover. In fact, physiological jaundice will return to normal soon as long as the child takes medicine in time and the mother takes good care of him. In fact, there are many ways to reduce baby's jaundice, which mainly requires adult observation and help. So how can we make jaundice disappear as quickly as possible?

1. Encourage mothers to breastfeed frequently

In this case, mothers should be encouraged to breastfeed frequently. When feeding artificially, pay attention to whether the baby is sucking effectively. Because frequent sucking can accelerate the excretion of meconium, lower the bilirubin level in the blood, and reduce the degree of jaundice. In the actual nursing process, some relatives and elders of the parturient, who do not understand the causes and care of neonatal jaundice, think that the baby is jaundiced due to hunger when they see the baby crying, and often secretly feed the baby some water or glucose solution when they are not paying attention.

When encountering this situation, we must strengthen breastfeeding publicity and education and effective experience exchange, and patiently tell the family members that this practice will reduce the baby's desire for breast milk, be detrimental to the excretion of meconium, cause an increase in serum bilirubin, and accelerate the degree of jaundice, in order to gain the understanding, support, and cooperation of the family members.

2. Drink boiled water

Parents should regularly feed their babies boiled water every morning and evening. Let the baby drink enough water so that the jaundice in the body can be eliminated while urinating. If the baby is drinking formula milk, water can be added between meals.

3. Pay attention to the color of your baby’s stool

Parents should pay more attention to the color of their baby's stool. If there is a problem with the liver or bile duct, the stool will turn white, but it will not turn white suddenly, but will become lighter and lighter. If the body suddenly turns yellow, the baby must be taken to a doctor in time.

4. Skin care

At the same time, we should strengthen skin care, especially the navel and buttocks. Because the baby's resistance is poor at this time, bacteria invasion can easily cause infection. This requires caregivers to carefully observe subtle changes in the baby's skin and take appropriate measures.

For example, when bathing your baby every day, you should pay special attention to the occurrence of impetigo in the armpits and neck; rub the navel with a 75% alcohol cotton swab every day, and if there is bleeding or exudation, use a small mask to cover the navel to protect it and keep it dry; change the diaper once every 4 hours. If diaper rash occurs, change the diaper once every 2 hours to block the invasion of bacteria and prevent sepsis; at the same time, maintain the indoor temperature and humidity, open the windows every day for effective ventilation, and keep the air fresh.

5. Let the baby's meconium be discharged as soon as possible

In the early stages, we need to feed the newborn as soon as possible so that the meconium can be excreted as soon as possible, because the meconium contains a lot of bilirubin. If the meconium is not excreted cleanly, the bilirubin will be reabsorbed into the blood through the special enterohepatic circulation of the newborn, causing increased jaundice. How to tell whether the meconium is discharged cleanly? The main thing is to see if the meconium changes from black to yellow, which means it is completely excreted.
