Jaundice is divided into physiological jaundice and pathological jaundice. Physiological jaundice is the most common. It appears two to three days after birth and disappears in seven to ten days. It has no effect on the child's body. Pathological jaundice will recur and may even become more serious each time. In this case, you need to go to the hospital for examination, otherwise it will have a great impact on the baby's body. So is it serious if there is jaundice during the full moon? 1. Is it normal for newborn jaundice to not subside after one month? Physiological jaundice appears 2 to 3 days after birth, reaches its peak on the 4th to 6th day, and disappears on the 7th to 10th day. It lasts longer in premature infants and, except for mild loss of appetite, has no other clinical symptoms. If jaundice appears within 24 hours after birth, does not subside within 2 to 3 weeks, or even continues to deepen and worsen, or reappears after subsiding, or jaundice begins to appear within one to several weeks after birth, it is pathological jaundice. The normal value of neonatal jaundice is based on serum bilirubin as a reference indicator. It is normal as long as it does not exceed 204μmol/L (12mg/dl) for full-term infants and 255μmol/L (15mg/dl) for premature infants. If newborn jaundice occurs, drinking water alone is not enough. You can drink some glucose water and get more sun exposure, which will help to fade the jaundice. If it is too serious, you can drink some Yinzhihuang granules. 2. How long does it usually take for neonatal jaundice to subside? If it is physiological jaundice, no treatment is needed. If it is pathological jaundice, the main treatment method is blue light exposure, so you must go to the hospital's pediatric department for treatment and retest transcutaneous bilirubin to understand the treatment effect. Regardless of the cause, pathological jaundice can cause kernicterus in severe cases, which has a poor prognosis. In addition to causing damage to the nervous system, severe cases can even cause death. Neonatal physiological jaundice: Neonatal jaundice begins to appear 2-3 days after birth, is most obvious after 4-5 days, and disappears naturally in 7-14 days. The general condition is good and there are no adverse reactions. This is called "physiological jaundice". Jaundice in premature infants can last up to 14 days. Neonatal breast milk jaundice: Jaundice starts 4-7 days after birth and lasts for about 2 months. It is mainly characterized by increased unconjugated bilirubin and has no clinical symptoms. Neonatal pathological jaundice: Jaundice appears early, within 24 hours after birth. Jaundice is persistent. It may persist or even worsen 2-3 weeks after birth, or it may be relieved and then worsen again. Severe jaundice may be golden yellow or spread all over the body, with obvious jaundice on the palms and soles, or serum bilirubin greater than 12-15 mg/L. Those with anemia or lighter stool color. Those with symptoms such as abnormal body temperature, poor appetite, vomiting, etc. |
