What should I do if my baby’s lower teeth cover the upper teeth? Teach you effective measures

Under normal circumstances, a person's upper and lower teeth are aligned. If the lower teeth cover the upper teeth, it will greatly affect the person's appearance. As a parent, if I find that my child’s lower teeth cover the upper teeth, I can try these methods to deal with it.

1. There are many factors that cause overbite, such as genetic factors and the influence of some systemic diseases. Here I would like to draw the attention of parents that some factors caused by bad habits are still related to you. For example: During the breastfeeding period, if the baby is held in the supine position to be fed with a bottle, the lower jaw needs to push forward and suck hard, which can cause overbite. For example, if you don't pay attention to your child's bad habits of biting the upper layer, which causes the lower jaw to protrude, it will gradually lead to reversed front teeth and protrusion of the lower jaw. Some children suffer from chronic inflammation and hypertrophy of the tonsils in their mouths, which makes breathing difficult and causes the mandible to protrude forward to increase space for breathing, which eventually causes mandibular protrusion.

2. What is the normal occlusion relationship between upper and lower teeth? For the back teeth, the normal cusp and fossa contact should be maintained; for the front teeth, the upper front teeth should slightly "cover" the lower front teeth. It is abnormal to cover too deeply or too forward. If the lower teeth cover the upper teeth, it is medically called underbite, or what people often call "underbite".

3. In childhood, the development of the jaw mainly depends on the mandible, because the growth center of the jaw is in the mandible. The normal relationship between the upper teeth and the lower teeth, on the one hand, promotes the development of the maxilla while the mandible develops, and on the other hand, appropriately limits the excessive development of the mandible, thereby maintaining a normal facial shape.

4. If an overbite appears during the deciduous teeth stage, it must be corrected as soon as possible. Do not wait until after the teeth are replaced to avoid the formation of bone deformities. There are two types of "underbite" in the permanent tooth stage. If it is simply due to teeth, orthodontic correction can be performed; if it is due to bony deformity, surgical correction is required.
