Symptoms of onychomycosis in children

Symptoms of onychomycosis in children

If a child has onychomycosis, parents must take the child to the hospital for treatment, because everyone knows that onychomycosis is contagious. This may cause the child to be isolated and no one will play with him, which will cause the child to feel inferior. They will feel that they cannot hold their heads up among other children. This is particularly detrimental to the physical and psychological development of girls. So what are the symptoms of onychomycosis in children?

Onychomycosis patients often have onychomycosis on the hands and face. The disease develops more slowly and is more easily spread to other people. Most of the pathogenic fungi of tinea pedis can invade the surface layer of the skin. At present, children's onychomycosis develops relatively slowly. The type and progression of tinea pedis and tinea manuum are directly related to the viral infection of onychomycosis.

Common symptoms include:

1. Hook Armor

The diseased nail grows too long and bends toward the palmoplantar side; this is a typical symptom of onychomycosis in children.

2. Hypertrophy

Subungual keratin accumulation;

3. The nail surface is uneven

Subungual keratin accumulation leads to nail plate destruction.

4. A separation

The thickened keratin falls off, causing the nail plate to separate from the nail bed.

5. Color change

The diseased nails appear white or even black.

These are the symptoms of onychomycosis in children. I believe all parents are aware of them. If children show these symptoms in the early stages, they must be taken seriously and diagnosed and treated in a timely manner.

Onychomycosis does not affect children as much as it does adults, and it affects more than just their appearance. Children love to play together. If they have onychomycosis, it will have a certain psychological impact and seriously affect the patient's normal life.

First of all, onychomycosis is often caused by the growth of fungi due to dirt and grime in the nails. Therefore, parents should help their babies develop good hygiene habits and keep their hands clean. At the same time, you should also prevent your baby's nails from growing too long to reduce the chance of fungus growing on the nails.

Secondly, babies often like to bite their nails. This bad habit can easily cause nail deformation or even damage the gums, leading to bleeding or infection. This will lead to more bacteria invading the nail groove and causing paronychia, which will directly lead to the onset of onychomycosis.

Thirdly, the baby's body resistance is poor, and an unclean living environment at home can also cause onychomycosis. Therefore, on the one hand, we should try to help them strengthen exercise, pay attention to balanced nutrition, and enhance immunity. On the other hand, we should pay attention to the cleanliness of the living environment.

In addition, it is best not to share or place the baby's shoes, socks, towels, etc. with the parents. Also, avoid taking the baby to walk barefoot or wear public slippers in public bathrooms, swimming pools, etc. At the same time, keep your body dry, change clothes frequently, and avoid staying in an overheated or humid environment for too long.

If a child suffers from onychomycosis, he or she should go to a regular hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time, and receive treatment according to the symptoms and the doctor's instructions. At the same time, daily care should be done to prevent fungal infection from worsening the condition or spreading to other parts of the body.
