Baby high fever throat herpes

Baby high fever throat herpes

Baby's throat herpes can easily cause high fever, which is mainly caused by viral infections such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, etc., collectively known as upper respiratory tract infection. Upper respiratory tract infections are divided into acute infections and chronic infections. Acute infections are more serious and often cause a rapid rise in body temperature. If not treated in time, it is easy to have convulsions due to high fever. Therefore, when a baby suffers from this disease, parents must not be careless and must treat it in time.

Because children have low body resistance and weak defense function, viruses or bacteria often invade the body, causing some symptoms. Clinically, we often see some children suddenly have high fever, drooling, and refusing to eat. The younger children will just cry and make their parents at a loss, while the older children will tell their parents about it themselves.

Sore throat. When going to the hospital for examination, the doctor may find congestion in the pharyngeal isthmus, and small light gray blisters on the palatoglossal arch, soft palate, hard palate and uvula, with a diameter of 1-2 mm and a red halo around them. After 2-3 days, they will break into white ulcers. Herpes and ulcers may exist at the same time. The number of lesions may be as many as 5-10 or as few as 1-2. Occasionally, single blisters or ulcers may be seen on the tonsils and tongue, but the gums and buccal mucosa are never invaded, so it is an infection in the back of the mouth. It usually heals itself in 4-6 days and rarely has complications.

The above condition is medically known as herpetic pharyngitis, which is generally believed to be caused by group A Coxsackievirus infection. It is more common in children aged 1-7 years old, is prevalent in summer, and the same child may have repeated attacks. The main symptoms are sudden high fever and sore throat. The body temperature is generally between 37.7 and 40 degrees. Vomiting or headache often occurs during the disease. A few children have abdominal pain. Young children may have convulsions due to high fever. Sore throat can cause infants and young children to drool and refuse to eat. Because this disease is caused by a viral infection, the treatment is mainly antiviral and there is no need to use antibiotics. You can take antiviral oral liquid or Banlangen granules orally.

In addition, you can also take multiple vitamins, such as vitamin C and vitamin B complex, and use chloramphenicol cod liver oil or Chinese medicine aerosol spray locally to achieve local analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. If there is secondary bacterial infection or complications of otitis media or sinusitis, antibiotics can be used for treatment. When the fever is high and the body temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees, antipyretic treatment should be given to avoid febrile convulsions. Children who have difficulty eating should receive appropriate fluid replacement to prevent electrolyte imbalance.

Herpetic pharyngitis is mostly caused by viral infection, so taking antibiotics will naturally have no effect. Please give your baby Chinese patent medicine for clearing heat and detoxifying or Western medicine antiviral granules (oral liquid), and he will be cured in two or three days. In terms of diet, do not eat hot foods, fish, shrimp, etc. Drink more water and eat more fruits. You can eat liquid or semi-liquid food. Too hot food may aggravate the sore throat. You should eat something that is not too hot and

Light and easily digestible food, you can also add some vegetable juice.

In addition, older children can eat some ice cream when they have a fever, because ice cream is cooler and can relieve pain; it also contains milk and vitamins, which can increase calories and supplement nutrition; it can also have a cooling effect. Therefore, for children with high fever and refusal to eat in the early stage, it is best to give them food.

Most children are willing to accept ice cream, which is good for relieving pain, reducing fever and preventing dehydration.
