What to do if your baby has herpes

Sometimes babies will develop blister rashes, and many parents don’t know what to do. This disease is caused by a viral infection and is generally contagious, so antiviral treatment is required. Clinically, the main manifestations are redness and swelling of the skin, and sometimes blister-like changes. Since this disease causes pain to the baby, the baby will cry. 1. Roseola infantum: It is a common rash disease in infants and young children, which may be an infectious disease caused by viral infection. It is more common in infants under one year old and can occur at any time of the year. Mostly in winter and spring. Generally, the infection occurs once, but twice is rare. The incubation period is 8 to 14 days. Clinical manifestations:

Fever may reach 39~41℃, usually lasting 3~5 days. Some children may have febrile convulsions. The characteristic of this disease is the appearance of rash after the fever subsides. The rash is mostly irregular macules or maculopapules. Pressing the rash with your hands can make it fade. Visible all over the body. It usually disappears within 1 to 2 days without leaving any trace. At the same time, some children also have respiratory and digestive tract symptoms. The lymph nodes in the neck may swell. Especially the enlargement of lymph nodes behind the ears or behind the occipital bone is more obvious.

2. Rubella: It is an acute infectious disease caused by rubella virus, common in children, and transmitted through respiratory droplets. The infectious agent may be an already infected patient or a person who is not sick but is carrying the virus. The disease often occurs in winter and spring and can spread in groups. The general incubation period is 10 to 21 days. Clinical manifestations: Fever: mostly moderate fever, rarely high fever. It lasts for 1 to 2 days, and it is rare for the fever to last for 3 days. At the same time, some children also have cough, sore throat, runny nose, headache, vomiting, and conjunctivitis. A rash appears 1 to 2 days after the fever and then quickly spreads over the entire body. The rash is light in color and slightly above the skin. The rash usually disappears within 2 to 3 days after its onset, or 4 to 5 days at most. Some patients may have pigmentation spots left after the rash disappears. Swollen lymph nodes behind the ears, neck and occipital area before the rash appears are helpful for early diagnosis. As the condition improves, the lymph nodes gradually regress.

3. Chickenpox: It is a common, mild, acute viral infectious disease transmitted through contact or droplets. The initial infection is chickenpox, and subsequent infection may result in shingles. It is more common in all age groups after 6 months. In the late stages of pregnancy, the virus can also be transmitted to the fetus through the placenta, causing chickenpox in the neonatal period. The disease is more common in winter and spring. Generally, one attack confers lifelong immunity. The incubation period is 11 to 24 days. Clinical manifestations: Fever, generally below 39°C. The rash may appear on the day of fever or 1 to 2 days after the fever. It is most common on the trunk, head, waist and scalp. Generally, papules, herpes and scabby rashes exist at the same time. Some children may also have red papules in the mouth, pharynx and conjunctiva.
