Why is my child short of breath?

Children are the core of a family. They are raised with the careful care of their parents and are regarded as treasures by their parents. If something unexpected happens one day, parents will be very upset. Sometimes children will experience shortness of breath, which makes parents very anxious. In order to get appropriate treatment, it is best for parents to understand why their child is short of breath.

First, a child’s shortness of breath may be caused by congenital lung immaturity or respiratory tract infection. For example, premature babies may suffer from respiratory distress syndrome and shortness of breath due to immature lung development. Usually, the shortness of breath caused by this type of situation is accompanied by a loud noise.

Second, if the child has an upper respiratory infection, it may be because the baby's respiratory tract is too narrow, or the larynx is not fully developed, the larynx is edematous, or it may be caused by some other viral infection. If it is an upper respiratory infection, then it has little to do with the physical constitution of the newborn. It should be adjusted and more attention should be paid to the feeding method.

If the child has a lower respiratory tract infection, it is possible that the newborn itself has pneumonia, and this pneumonia has caused sepsis, causing the baby to have shortness of breath. Whether it is an upper respiratory tract infection or a lower respiratory tract infection, it is actually very harmful to the baby. It should be taken seriously and treated in time.

Third, many factors in life may cause shortness of breath in children, such as allergies, congenital structural abnormalities, sucking reflex, etc., which may cause shortness of breath in newborns. However, no matter what the cause of the newborn's shortness of breath is, the cause must be found and resolved.

In life, there are many reasons that can cause children to have shortness of breath, and parents need to rule them out one by one to find the specific cause. All possible causes are listed above. Whether it is due to immature lung development or respiratory tract infection, parents need to take it into consideration and take preventive measures for their children in advance to help relieve their pain.
