What should we do if children have habitual constipation in life?

Nowadays, the physical health development of children is something that many adults are worried about. In life, parents of children must pay attention to their children’s diet and daily habits. A child’s eating habits will directly affect his or her physical development, and long-term constipation is definitely not good. Today, I will tell you how to deal with habitual constipation in children. I hope it will be helpful to all parents.

The number of bowel movements per day in normal children can vary greatly. Some may defecate several times a day, while others may defecate once every 5-3 days. As long as the stool is of a certain amount, not too dry or too watery, and there are no discomfort symptoms, it is normal. Even if the frequency is less, but the stool quality and quantity are normal and there are no symptoms, it cannot be considered abnormal.

If the stool is dry, small and difficult to pass, although it may occur 2-3 times a day, the total amount may be less than usual, it should also be considered constipation. Especially when there is a decrease in appetite, abdominal distension, and frequent bowel movements, it should be considered constipation. If the bowel movements are usually regular, but suddenly there is no bowel movement for more than 2 days, especially with abdominal pain or bloating, it should be considered constipation, and the cause should be found in time.

Constipation can be caused by intestinal lesions, as well as by factors such as diet, mental state and habits. Newborns should have normal meconium within 24-36 hours after birth. If there is no meconium discharge or a small amount of abnormal meconium is discharged, it is abnormal and you should pay attention to congenital digestive tract malformations and meconium peritonitis. Many intestinal lesions can lead to constipation or no bowel movements, the most common of which are intussusception, intestinal obstruction due to various reasons, incarcerated hernia and congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis. Congenital megacolon is another disease caused by abnormal colon nerve control.

I wonder if, through the above introduction, today’s parents have ever seriously planned their children’s dietary health. During the important stage of children's growth and development, it is important to correct their eating habits in a timely manner. They should not be partial or picky eaters, should not eat too much fast food such as takeout, and should pay attention to calcium supplementation.
