Symptoms of humeral surgical neck fracture in children

Surgical tibia fracture of the humerus in children should be relatively rare in life. Generally, only when children are hit by relatively large external force will they suffer from surgical neck fracture of the humerus in children. Regarding the problem of surgical neck fracture of the humerus in children, we recommend that parents take their children to the hospital for treatment in time, because it is better to treat surgical neck fracture of the humerus in children at this time, because children's bones are more fragile and easy to bond.

The surgical neck of the humerus is located 2 to 3 cm below the anatomical neck and above the insertion point of the pectoralis major muscle. This is the transition from cancellous bone to compact bone and is slightly thinner. It is an anatomical weak link and fractures are common. It can occur at all ages, but more so in the elderly. Fractures of the surgical neck of the humerus are often severely displaced and cause more local bleeding, so special attention should be paid.

It is similar to other shoulder fractures, but the symptoms are often more severe.

1. Swelling: Because the fracture is located outside the joint, local swelling is more obvious, especially in adduction and comminuted types.

2. Except for the abduction type, the pain is usually more obvious, especially during activities and is accompanied by annular tenderness and percussion pain.

3. Type 2 is the most severe with restricted activities.

4. Other symptoms: Pay attention to whether there are any symptoms of nerve and blood vessel compression. If the dislocation is obvious, the affected limb may appear shortened and angular.

5. Classification (1) Fissure type fracture: caused by direct violence.

(2) Abduction fracture: It is caused by the abduction position of the upper limb during a fall, which causes the distal segment of the fracture to be abducted and the proximal segment to be adducted accordingly, resulting in the two fracture ends being displaced outward at an angle, and the two fracture ends are often interlocked.

(3) Adduction fracture: When falling, the upper limb is in the adduction position, causing the distal segment of the fracture to adduct and the proximal segment to abduct accordingly. The two fracture ends are displaced inward at an angle, and the inner sides of the two fracture ends are often interlocked with each other.

(4) Fracture of the surgical neck of the humerus combined with anterior dislocation of the shoulder joint: This is usually caused by the abduction and external rotation of the upper limb, which leads to anterior dislocation of the shoulder joint. The continued violence will cause a fracture of the surgical neck of the humerus.
