Is there a red spot on the palm of a child's hand hand, foot and mouth disease?

Hand, foot and mouth disease mainly occurs among children. It is highly contagious. In addition, children’s own resistance is not as strong as that of adults, so many children will suffer from hand, foot and mouth disease and the disease will spread rapidly soon. However, not every parent knows about hand, foot and mouth disease, so they don’t know when their children first show symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease. So are red spots on the palms a symptom of hand, foot and mouth disease?

The symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease are acute onset, fever, scattered blisters on the oral mucosa, maculopapular rashes and blisters on the hands, feet and buttocks, inflammatory red halos around the blisters, and less fluid in the blisters. May be accompanied by symptoms such as cough, runny nose, and loss of appetite. Some cases only present as rash or herpangina. Most patients recover within a week and the prognosis is good. In some cases, the rash may be atypical, such as appearing in a single area or only as maculopapular rash.

There are several viruses that can cause hand, foot and mouth disease. The most common is Coxsackievirus A16, but other strains of Coxsackievirus A or enterovirus 71 can also cause hand, foot and mouth disease. Coxsackievirus is a type of enterovirus. Enteroviruses include poliovirus, coxsackievirus, and echovirus. The infection site is the entire digestive tract including the mouth. It enters the body through contaminated food, drinks, fruits, etc. and proliferates in the intestines.

Generally speaking, the most common symptom of hand, foot and mouth disease in children is the appearance of red spots on the palms of their hands. At the same time, red spots or papules will appear on the tongue, soles of feet, and buttocks of the children. Therefore, as parents, we must pay more attention to our children's personal hygiene in daily life. Let children develop the good habit of washing hands before meals and after defecation. Also, avoid eating raw or cold food and don't drink raw water, as these foods contain more bacteria.
