Some babies develop symptoms of high jaundice on the second day after birth, which is a relatively common condition nowadays. When jaundice occurs, the child may also experience gastrointestinal bleeding. If this is the case, it is still quite dangerous and must be rescued in time to prevent the baby's body from being severely affected, which will ultimately affect their lives. 6. Gastrointestinal bleeding: When jaundice is accompanied by gastrointestinal bleeding, it is often seen in cirrhosis, liver cancer, common bile duct cancer, ampullary cancer or severe hepatitis. 7. The color of sclera and skin jaundice: The cause or type of jaundice can be preliminarily determined based on the color of jaundice. If the sclera and skin jaundice is lemon-yellow, it usually indicates hemolytic jaundice; if it is light yellow or golden yellow, it usually indicates hepatocellular jaundice; if it is dark yellow or yellow-green, it usually indicates obstructive jaundice (the longer the obstruction time, the more obvious the yellow-green color of the jaundice). 8. Other skin abnormalities: If there is pigmentation on the face and exposed parts of the skin, as well as liver palms, spider nevi, or dilated capillaries in the skin of the neck and chest, and varicose veins in the abdominal wall, it is often an indication of active hepatitis, cirrhosis, or primary liver cancer. If the skin has symptoms such as itching, scratching, pigmentation, and eyelid jaundice, it is usually a sign of obstructive jaundice. Patients with hemolytic jaundice generally have pale skin. 9. Enlarged liver: In viral hepatitis and acute biliary tract infection, the liver is mildly or moderately enlarged, with a soft texture, a smooth surface, and often tenderness. Mild enlargement of the liver, a hard texture, uneven edges, or small nodules on the surface are more common in early cirrhosis (the liver of patients with late cirrhosis often becomes hardened and shrunken). When the liver is obviously enlarged or progressively enlarged, has a hard texture, an uneven surface, and a nodular feel, it often indicates primary liver cancer. 10. Splenomegaly: When jaundice is accompanied by an enlarged spleen, it is often seen in viral hepatitis, various types of cirrhosis, liver cancer, hemolytic anemia, sepsis, leptospirosis and other diseases. 11. Enlarged gallbladder: When jaundice is accompanied by an enlarged gallbladder, it often indicates that there is obstruction at the lower end of the common bile duct, which is more common in common bile duct cancer, pancreatic head cancer, ampullary cancer, or enlarged lymph nodes or masses in the hilum of the liver compressing the common bile duct. The gallbladder that is touched is characterized by a smooth surface, no obvious tenderness, and mobility. This type of gallbladder enlargement is often called Courvoisier sign. In the case of gallbladder cancer or huge stones in the gallbladder, the enlarged gallbladder often appears hard and irregular, and is often tender. |
