Neonatal retinal hemorrhage

Neonatal retinal hemorrhage

We all know that when many newborns are just born, the hospital will arrange a physical examination for the newborns to see if there are any hidden diseases in the children's bodies so that they can be discovered and treated early. Some children will be found to have retinal hemorrhage just after they are born. At this time, it is likely due to eye diseases. The baby must be treated in time. So what causes retinal hemorrhage in newborns?

Retinal hemorrhage is not an independent eye disease, but a common feature of many eye diseases and certain systemic diseases. It is common in hypertensive retinopathy, retinopathy caused by diabetes and kidney disease.

Guidance: At present, Western medicine mainly uses laser therapy, fibrinolytic agents, antiplatelet aggregation agents and other methods to treat this disease. They have certain clinical effects. These can treat existing new blood vessels and control the condition, but cannot prevent the formation of new new blood vessels, further absorb blood stasis, restore vision, and prevent recurrence of the disease. They are far less ideal than traditional Chinese medicine. While using laser and Western medicine, as well as in the process of recovery, we can strive for more opportunities to use traditional Chinese medicine to achieve the effect of treating both the symptoms and the root causes.

If the bleeding is mild and the amount is small and the treatment is early, the possibility of leaving sequelae is relatively small. Close observation and active treatment are recommended. The key is to see whether there is blood congestion in the brain or whether there is nerve compression. If the above conditions are not present, the likelihood of any sequelae is relatively small. I wish you a speedy recovery.

Newborns are prone to intraocular hemorrhage.

1. Within one week after birth, the coagulation function of the newborn is not yet fully developed, the prothrombin and coagulation factor functions in the plasma are low, and there is a physiological decrease in coagulation factors. In addition, the elastic fibers in the blood vessel walls are underdeveloped and the blood vessel walls are fragile, so various bleeding situations are more common.

2. Eyes: eyelid/orbital/subconjunctival hemorrhage, retinal hemorrhage. Retinal hemorrhage is mostly oozing or punctate hemorrhage. The amount of bleeding is usually small but the bleeding range is wide and scattered. Severe cases can cause large areas of bleeding.

3. Increased intracranial pressure and chest pressure lead to increased retinal venous pressure, obstructed blood return, and are related to neonatal coagulation dysfunction and incomplete development of vascular walls.
