The mother's every move is always on her mind. Whenever the child says it hurts here or there, the mothers are always the most worried. So what’s going on when a child suddenly complains of neck pain? Many mothers don’t understand this very well. In fact, there are three reasons for children's neck pain. The first reason is stiff neck. 1. What causes neck pain in children? 1. Stiff neck. If the child complains of neck pain after getting up in the morning, he or she will always tilt his or her head to one side in an attempt to relieve the pain. It may be that the child's pillow is not suitable when he is sleeping, and the head is placed in the wrong position, causing his neck to be twisted and resulting in a stiff neck. It may also be that his neck has been caught in a cold, and he only feels the pain after getting up. If it is a stiff neck, it is just a simple muscle spasm. As long as timely measures are taken, the symptoms will disappear quickly. You can apply safflower oil, Yun essence, etc. on the painful area and gently massage his neck, which will have a certain effect. Or you can use a hot water bottle, hot towel, etc. for hot compresses to relieve the pain a little, but be careful to avoid burning the skin. 2. Children with throat infection will have not only neck pain, but also fever, sore throat and difficulty swallowing. This may be due to an ear, nose, and throat infection. In this case, it is necessary for a doctor to determine the cause of the infection. The cause of infection may be simple pharyngitis, pharyngitis caused by streptococcal infection, or purulent pharyngitis. In these cases, the doctor will provide appropriate treatment based on the condition and may prescribe some antipyretics and analgesics. 3. If a child with meningitis suddenly has a high fever of over 39°C, is afraid of light, noise, and touch from others, has a headache, projectile vomiting, curls up, has a stiff neck, etc., go to the hospital for emergency treatment immediately. If meningitis is suspected, the doctor will need to do a lumbar puncture on the child. After anesthesia, a small sample of the brain and spinal cord will be extracted from the spine for testing to find the pathogen. Special cultures of blood, urine, and samples of discharge from the eyes and nose may also be obtained. Reminder: Meningitis is contagious, so you may need to be isolated for at least 48 hours. 2. What should children eat when they have neck pain? 1. Ginseng and Jujube Porridge: 3 grams of ginseng, 50 grams of polished rice, 15 grams of jujube meat, and appropriate amount of white sugar. Grind the ginseng into fine powder, wash the polished rice with water, wash and pit the jujube, put the polished rice and jujube meat into a pot with appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat. After the porridge is cooked, add appropriate amount of ginseng powder and white sugar. 2. Hawthorn and Salvia miltiorrhiza porridge: 50 grams of hawthorn, 15 grams of Salvia miltiorrhiza, 50 grams of polished rice, and appropriate amount of rock sugar. Wash the hawthorn slices, japonica rice and salvia miltiorrhiza, and first boil the salvia miltiorrhiza to remove the residue and extract the juice. Add hawthorn slices, glutinous rice, and appropriate amount of water, boil over high heat, simmer over low heat until it becomes porridge, then add appropriate amount of rock sugar. 3. Chrysanthemum and Pueraria lobata porridge: 15 grams of chrysanthemum, 50 grams of Pueraria lobata, and appropriate amount of rock sugar. Put chrysanthemum into the pot, add appropriate amount of water, fry it, take the juice and discard the residue. Wash the kudzu root, cut it into small pieces, wash the japonica rice, put them in a pot, add appropriate amount of water to cook porridge, and add appropriate amount of white sugar. 4. Astragalus and longan meat porridge: 20 grams of astragalus, 20 grams of longan meat, 50 grams of glutinous rice, and appropriate amount of white sugar. Slice the Astragalus, put it in a pot, add 500 ml of water, boil and extract the juice. Wash the rice with water, take the Astragalus liquid and add appropriate amount of water to boil, add longan meat and cook into porridge, then add appropriate amount of white sugar. 5. Double-kernel and Acanthopanax porridge: 50 grams of coix seed, 6 grams of peach kernel (peeled), 15 grams of Acanthopanax senticosus, 50 grams of polished rice, and appropriate amount of white sugar. Wash coix seeds, peach kernels and glutinous rice, put them in a pot and add appropriate amount of water.
