Two months old baby sleeps less

People envy infants and young children because they don't have to worry about some things in life and they spend most of the day either eating or sleeping. For infants and young children, they have not yet fully adapted to the outside world, so they like to sleep after eating. But for some babies, parents have found that they don't like sleeping. Is it normal for a two-month-old baby to sleep less?

Why does a two-month-old baby suddenly sleep less?

1. External factors: such as hunger, which is more common in newborns and babies under three months old. This requires breastfeeding or milk feeding to solve the problem. If older babies eat a full meal before going to bed, this factor can be eliminated. In dry weather, your baby may be thirsty at night, and giving him some water can help calm him down.

2. Internal factors: Children’s internal factors also affect their sleep, as their brain nerves are not yet fully developed. The child has not yet established a fixed schedule physically. The adjustment of the baby's biological clock's day and night rhythm depends on the baby's physiological maturity. Human sleep is divided into deep sleep and light sleep, which alternate about 3-4 hours at night.

3. For infants and young children, the alternation between deep sleep and light sleep may be shorter, about once every 2-3 hours. Adults and many babies who sleep through the night can adjust themselves better and re-enter deep sleep when light sleep comes. However, many babies and even many adults are unable to adjust themselves to fall asleep, so they wake up from light sleep.

Why do babies sleep less?

1. Calcium deficiency is one of the primary factors that cause babies to sleep restlessly. Calcium deficiency and low blood calcium levels increase the excitability of the brain's autonomic nerves, causing babies to wake up at night, have night terrors, become restless at night, and sleep restlessly.

2. Being too excited during the day or changes in the environment, such as going out, changes in sleep patterns, moving to a new house, having a new nanny or strangers. For example, the departure of the old nanny may cause the baby to sleep disturbed at night. Frequent changes in caregivers also significantly increase the incidence of sleep disorders in children. Sleeping too much during the day can also affect your sleep at night.

The above is a brief introduction about why a two-month-old baby suddenly sleeps less. In short, during this period, the mother can caress the baby more to increase the baby's sense of security. In addition, she should find out the reasons why the baby lacks sleep and make changes accordingly. It is best to go to the hospital to check whether the baby is lacking in trace elements. If the unstable sleep is caused by lack of trace elements, it is enough to replenish it in time.
