What should I do if my child has a bacterial cold and fever?

In the minds of parents, children's fever and colds are very serious, because children have relatively weak resistance, unlike adults who have very strong resistance and can recover easily from a cold. But it is different for children. Some children may have symptoms such as high fever due to colds. So what should you do when your baby has a cold and fever? Is there any way to treat it? Let’s learn more about it through the following text.

Bacterial colds are caused by bacterial infections and require treatment with antibiotics. Cephalosporins, penicillins, macrolides and other antibiotics can be used. At the same time, active symptomatic treatment should be given for the symptoms caused by the cold. It is recommended to drink more water, rest more, quit smoking, and keep the indoor air circulating.

The cold is a self-limiting disease caused by rhinovirus infection. The natural course of the disease is about 5 to 7 days. Bacterial infection may occur after a cold, but there is no concept of bacterial cold. There is no specific medicine for the cold. The treatment is mainly symptomatic. Drink plenty of water and get enough rest after a cold. Any cold medicine can be taken orally. If bacterial infection is present, some antibiotics can be used.

When a common cold occurs, most cases are low fever, rarely high fever. The patient suffers from nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, headache, body aches, fatigue and weakness. The symptoms are milder than those of influenza. Symptoms of bacterial colds: dry mouth, sore throat, nasal congestion and runny nose. Drink plenty of water and keep warm to prevent colds. This is caused by rhinovirus, coronavirus and parainfluenza virus, which exist in the respiratory tract of the patient and are transmitted to others through droplets. The common cold is much less contagious than influenza. People are more likely to get sick when they catch a cold, get caught in the rain, or are overly tired because their resistance is reduced. Therefore, the common cold often occurs individually and is treated with oral cold granules and isatis indigotica.

Parents must be very anxious when their baby has a fever, especially when the fever is high. If the child has a high fever, it is recommended to send him directly to the hospital emergency room. After all, the child's resistance is very weak. We cannot give the child medicine casually at home. We must follow the doctor's advice when taking medicine and seek timely treatment.
