What are the most effective methods for reducing phlegm in children?

I believe that parents of children are very concerned about their children's physical health. We found that many parents do not know what to do when their children have problems due to the lack of relevant knowledge of caring for children. We suggest that parents and friends take some time to learn some methods of caring for children. For example, if a child has symptoms of excessive sputum, how should we deal with it?

The first move: Pat the back

The back patting method can not only promote the loosening of sputum in the lungs and bronchi of children and discharge it into the trachea, but also promote blood circulation in the heart and lungs, which is beneficial to the absorption of bronchitis. Patting the baby’s back should be done before feeding to avoid excessive vibration that may cause spitting up of milk.

Method: Hold the baby upright, and curl your hands slightly when patting to form a hollow shape so that the baby will not feel pain. When patting the back, you should pat both lungs up and down, left and right, front and back, without missing any part. Each time you clear out the phlegm, clap each side of the lungs a hundred times.

Take photos 3 to 4 times a day. Since the baby's back and lower lungs are more likely to accumulate phlegm, focus on patting these areas. If you have pneumonia, you should focus on the inflamed side.

When patting the back, there should be a "pa, pa" sound, so that the purpose can be achieved. Some parents are afraid of hurting their baby, so they pat their baby carefully and gently. This kind of patting is unlikely to be effective. In fact, as long as the posture of patting the back is correct, it will not hurt the baby. Sometimes babies like to be patted on the back in this way because it allows them to have close physical contact with their mothers.

When the phlegm comes out, the baby does not cough it out, but swallows it. Because there are many digestive enzymes and acidic fluids in the digestive tract, they can kill bacteria and remove foreign objects.

The second method: Steam method

Steam inhalation can dilute sputum and make it easier to cough up. It can also reduce congestion and edema of the tracheal and bronchial mucosa and reduce coughing.

The method is to pour boiling water into a jug or teacup, hold the baby up and let his mouth and nose face the rising water vapor to inhale. Parents should be careful not to scald the baby when using it.

The third method: drinking water

Babies who cough often have varying degrees of dehydration, which can make secretions in the respiratory tract more viscous and difficult to cough out.

Drinking plenty of water can dilute mucus secretions and make them easier to cough up. Drinking water can also improve blood circulation, allowing the body's metabolic products and toxins to be excreted through urine, thereby reducing irritation to the respiratory mucosa. In addition, drinking water has a good moisturizing and physical therapeutic effect on the throat. The temperature of drinking water should be between 23℃ and 24℃, and it should be consumed between meals, in the morning and before going to bed.

Coughing in children is quite common. Coughing can be caused by catching a cold or catching a cold. Generally, there is no way to quickly cure a child's cough, so many mothers want to know a good way to reduce phlegm and relieve cough in children. Expectoration in children can be achieved through diet or medication, depending on the baby's condition and physical condition.
