What to do if children have dry nose

What to do if children have dry nose

The nose is a relatively sensitive organ in the human body. It is sensitive to irritating smells or humid air. This characteristic makes the nose more susceptible to disease, and children's noses are the most sensitive. Because children's noses are still in the development period, they can respond to tiny stimuli. For example, a dry nose is a reaction to air humidity. So, what should we do if children have a dry nose?

1. If you can directly see the obstruction or secretions in the nose, take a cotton swab for babies, wet it with water or baby oil, and insert it into the nostril (no more than 2 cm) to remove the secretions. Be careful not to insert it too deep into the nasal cavity to avoid causing damage.

2. Use a wet and warm towel to apply hot compress on the nose. When the nasal mucosa is exposed to heat and shrinks, the nasal cavity will be more unobstructed and the sticky nasal mucus will easily hydrate and flow out.

Precautions

1. When using cotton swabs, be careful not to let the cotton swab hurt the nasal mucosa because babies will move around.

2. Babies will use sneezing to clear foreign objects from their nostrils, and they will also sneeze when suddenly exposed to cold air. This is normal and there is no need to worry unless they have a runny nose.

3. Sometimes doctors will recommend that babies inhale some humid steam. You can use the hot water in the bathroom to fill the steam, inhale for three to five minutes, and then clear the nose.

4. If the blockage is too severe, ask your doctor to use special small instruments to help deal with it.

The above is an explanation of what to do if children have dry noses. I hope everyone can understand it. Children’s health concerns every parent. To take good care of children, it is necessary to carry out some preventive treatment for any children’s diseases, from minor colds and fevers to major surgeries. Basic care is indispensable. I hope parents can learn from it.
