How to treat a 2-year-old baby grinding his teeth while sleeping

Many people grind their teeth when they sleep. This happens in every age group. Although it is common, it is also an untreatable disease. Many people say that grinding teeth is caused by stomach worms, while others say that it is caused by oral diseases. In fact, the causes of grinding teeth are complicated. To treat grinding teeth, we must find the cause of the disease, so as to treat and relieve the grinding teeth. So how to treat a 2-year-old baby grinding teeth when sleeping?

(1) Psychological treatment: Patients with bruxism do have psychological factors that cause excessive tension in the jaw muscles. Such as emotional tension, anxiety, worry or fear about bruxism, etc. If a patient has such symptoms, it is important to relieve his or her worries and build confidence in treating the disease. Eliminate tension, relieve unnecessary worries, be open-minded, arrange work reasonably, and take tranquilizers orally when necessary, 1-2 times a day, one tablet each time. We should also develop good living habits, have a regular daily routine, not eat too much at dinner, and not do strenuous exercise before going to bed. Children in particular should develop the habit of keeping hygiene.

(2) Muscle relaxation therapy: Excessive tension in the jaw muscles is one of the causes of bruxism. Relieving excessive muscle tension during treatment is a necessary means to control bruxism. Commonly used methods include: the use of muscle relaxants; physical therapy, training of the physiological functions of the masticatory muscles; massage; audio-visual cues and other methods.

(3) Application of occlusal splint.

(4) Occlusal adjustment therapy: By grinding a small amount of tooth tissue, removing occlusal interference and premature occlusal contact, the occlusal balance of natural teeth is established to achieve a physiological balance among the occlusion, masticatory muscles, and temporomandibular joints, thus eliminating bruxism.

(5) Bruxism can also be treated symptomatically. For patients with malocclusion, orthodontic treatment should be performed first. Some require restoration or treatment of periodontal tissue diseases.

When children suffer from ascariasis, the toxins produced by the ascaris and their metabolites are absorbed by the human body, causing some neurological symptoms, and bruxism is one of them. Therefore, if a child is found to have ascariasis, anthelmintics should be used. Chinese medicines such as Quisqualis chinensis, Sophora flavescens root bark, and Areca catechu are the best for killing insects.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the brain is the home of the soul and is responsible for all mental functions. Sleep is related to the circulation of yin and yang energy in the human body. If you sleep well but have abnormal movements during sleep (including teeth grinding), this is related to the function of the brain. Treatment is suitable for nourishing the kidney and marrow, strengthening the brain and calming the mind. Here’s a good recipe for you:

1 liang of raw Rehmannia root, 3 qian of Zexie, 1 liang of Magnetite, (decoction first)

Moxibustion Licorice 3 qian Wumei 3 qian Schisandra 3 qian Cyperus rotundus 5 qian

Cornus officinalis 4 qian Polygala tenuifolia 3 qian Peony bark 3 qian Chinese yam 4 qian Juncus 2 qian (lead medicine) The above seven kinds of medicine (decoction)

A 2-year-old baby's teeth grinding while sleeping is mostly caused by abnormal tooth growth. Some patients are also caused by ascariasis. Of course, there is also a saying that calcium deficiency causes teeth grinding. Therefore, when treating teeth grinding, you can use relevant methods to test. If teeth grinding still occurs after testing and treatment, you should go to the hospital for corresponding examinations, which will help improve teeth grinding.
