Can children use air conditioning?

The hot season has many impacts on our bodies. For example, many people often use air conditioning or fans, especially children, who are naturally hot. Adults cannot feel the heat, but children will feel particularly hot. Children can use air conditioning, but when using air conditioning, it is very important to pay attention to several principles.

Several principles for using air conditioning on children in hot weather

1. Pay attention to usage time

After strenuous exercise, do not let your child enter an air-conditioned room immediately to prevent the open pores from suddenly contracting, causing them to catch a cold and become ill. If your child is sweating a lot after coming back from outside, wait until the sweat subsides before turning on the air conditioner. Before turning on the air conditioner, it is best to let the child wipe off the sweat on his body and change into dry clothes to avoid catching cold.

2. The temperature is suitable and the temperature difference should not be too large

Even if the weather is hot and humid, the temperature of the indoor air conditioner should not be set too low, 26~28 degrees is more appropriate; the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor should not be too large. When the temperature is high, the temperature difference can be adjusted to about 6~7 degrees; when the temperature is not too high, the temperature difference can be adjusted to 3~5 degrees, and the wind speed of the air conditioner should not be too strong. In addition, the temperature is low at night, so the air conditioning temperature should be adjusted in time.

3. Pay attention to the air direction of the air conditioner

When children are in an air-conditioned room, parents should pay attention to the air outlet of the air conditioner and avoid pointing the air outlet towards the children. Because children's body temperature regulation center is not yet fully developed, if they are exposed to wind for a long time with too strong wind, their capillaries will contract and their body temperature will drop excessively, which can easily cause illness.

4. Regular ventilation

In air-conditioned rooms, be sure to open windows frequently to ensure air circulation indoors and outdoors. Generally, after turning on the machine for 1 to 3 hours, you need to open the windows to exhaust the indoor air, which takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Mothers can also open a small window in the air-conditioned room to facilitate air exchange.

5. Keep moisturized

If you stay in an air-conditioned room for a long time, you will often feel dry mouth and tongue. This is because the moisture in the body is evaporated by the cold air. Children's skin moisture regulation ability is far inferior to that of adults, so it is more difficult for them to adapt. Therefore, it is best for parents to feed their children fruits and vegetables regularly and let them drink plenty of boiled water to replenish the body's water.

6. Clean the air conditioner regularly

About every half a month, the air filter on the air conditioner should be removed and rinsed with plenty of water to ensure the indoor air quality. Parents can also buy air conditioner cleaners from supermarkets and clean the air conditioner themselves, which is both cost-effective and convenient.
