Newly born babies are very weak. Many people pay special attention to the development of their children at this time, because if we find any abnormality in the child's body, we can improve and care for the child in time. Many children will have a phenomenon of navel bleeding when they are born, and then the navel of many children will be red and swollen, and then it will hurt. So what should we do if the navel of a newborn baby is bleeding? The navel of a newborn baby may bleed a little. If it is only a small amount, it is normal and parents do not need to worry too much. If the bleeding continues, it may be that the umbilical cord knot was not tied properly, but this possibility is very low. It is also possible that the umbilical cord is not properly cared for, causing interference with the belly button. The care methods for your baby before the umbilical cord falls off and after the umbilical cord falls off will be different. Generally, 1 to 2 times a day is enough, and the navel will become dry after 2 to 3 days. Gently wiping the umbilical cord stump with dry gauze can also speed up the healing of the belly button. If the discharge from the belly button is like pus or has a foul odor, it means that the navel may be infected and you should take your baby to the hospital. But be careful not to sprinkle "anti-inflammatory powder" on the navel to prevent infection. If there is purulent secretion in the umbilical fossa, the surrounding skin is red, swollen, and hot, and the child has anorexia, vomiting, fever, or no increase in body temperature (rectal temperature is lower than 35 degrees Celsius), it indicates omphalitis. The umbilical cord head can easily be rubbed by clothes and cause bleeding or redness and swelling. Be sure to wrap the baby's umbilical cord well and keep the area dry. Do not get water into the baby's mouth when bathing. Use a sterile cotton swab dipped in medical alcohol to disinfect the baby after each bath. If necessary, take the child to the hospital for a doctor's examination. When parents are caring for their baby's umbilical cord, they should wash their hands, pinch the umbilical cord, lift it gently, and use a 75% disinfectant alcohol cotton swab to disinfect the base of the umbilical cord, wipe off all secretions and blood, and do this 1 to 2 times a day to keep the base of the umbilical cord clean. At the same time, diapers must be changed frequently to prevent urine and feces from contaminating the navel. If you find purulent secretions at the base of the navel and the navel is locally red, it means that you have omphalitis and you should go to the hospital for treatment. 1. Before the umbilical cord falls off Always check whether there is any bleeding outside the gauze bandage. If bleeding occurs, it needs to be re-ligated to stop the bleeding. If there is no bleeding, just wipe the base of the umbilical cord with a 75% alcohol cotton swab every day and wait for it to fall off naturally. 2. After the umbilical cord falls off If there is still a small amount of bleeding, wipe the baby's belly button from inside to outside with alcohol cotton every day. Be careful not to get your baby's navel wet when bathing. Also be careful not to cover the baby's navel when changing diapers to avoid infection. If the bleeding continues, take your baby to the hospital immediately. After the umbilical cord falls off, there will often be a small amount of exudate in the navel fossa. At this time, you can use a 75% alcohol cotton swab to clean the navel fossa and then cover it with sterilized gauze. Therefore, if you find bleeding on your child's belly button, you must pay attention to this symptom and send the child to the hospital for examination immediately. If the belly button is inflamed or infected, you must quickly give the child anti-inflammatory treatment and bandage. Also, be sure to let the child wear looser clothes at this time so that the child can stay away from pain and harm to the body. During this period, make sure to give the child plenty of water. |
