Is it normal for babies to spit up milk in a spraying manner?

Basically all babies will spit up milk, which is actually normal. However, the spitting up symptoms may be too severe and even in the form of projectiles. It may be gastrointestinal dysfunction or other pathological factors, so mothers must pay attention.

For example, the baby swallowed a large amount of contaminated amniotic fluid at birth, the mother took medicine that can cause vomiting, or suffered from various infectious diseases. In these cases, you should see a doctor immediately. And give your baby some complementary foods containing immune factors such as bovine colostrum.

The situation of newborns spitting up milk in a jet-like shape is something that almost every baby has experienced. It will not affect their intelligence and will heal as they grow older.

1. Be sure to let the baby burp after feeding: hold the baby upright against your shoulder, pat the baby's back gently, let him burp out the air inhaled into the stomach while sucking milk, then put the baby on the bed, this way it will be less likely to spit up milk.

2. Babies under two months old generally do not need pillows, but it is best if the mattress is tilted 15 degrees, with the head higher and the feet lower. If the baby's bed cannot be tilted, you can put a folded towel under the baby's head and tilt the head to one side when putting the baby down to prevent milk from choking the lungs.

3. After feeding, be gentle when picking up and putting down the baby, and do not shake the baby hard.

4. If vomiting only occurs occasionally, and the baby remains in good spirits after vomiting, does not cry or make a fuss, and has no painful expression, there is generally no big problem. Keep some small towels or wet wipes on hand for your baby, and wipe them clean immediately if your baby spills milk.

5. Spitting up has nothing to do with milk powder. Just pay more attention when feeding.

6. Adopt a suitable breastfeeding posture: try to hold the baby while feeding, so that the baby's body is tilted at about 45 degrees, and the milk in the stomach will naturally flow into the small intestine. This will reduce the chance of vomiting compared to feeding while lying down.
