How is ADHD diagnosed in children?

I believe every parent pays special attention to the growth of their children, fearing that their health and studies may be affected by some accidents. However, the incidence of ADHD in children remains high, which makes parents feel very worried, especially when they observe a significant decline in their children's attention. So how can we diagnose this disease? Let me tell you the story below.

1. Check the symptoms. As with any disease, symptoms are the first way to check. Once tics occur, the patient will have the following symptoms, such as: red tip of the tongue, little or no coating, and a thin and rapid pulse. Carefully inquire about the child's history of brain trauma, whether there are premature birth, difficult labor, cesarean section, etc., which may cause adverse symptoms such as brain hypoxia, ischemia or asphyxia.

2. Hand flip test. The hand-flip test is of great significance in examining this disease. Experts point out: Let the child sit in front of the table and place both hands flat on the table. When doing it, first put the palms down, let the thumbs hang down along the edge of the table, and keep the other fingers of both hands close together. When you repeatedly turn your hands over as quickly as possible, your movements become clumsy or even chaotic; if you do not swing your elbows when turning your hands, your two little fingers will not be able to come together, and your posture will become even more clumsy.

3. Exercise endurance test. The motor endurance test is a common way to check for tics in children. It is mainly judged by checking self-control ability, especially when it is difficult to stay focused when studying, doing things or playing (7-10 years old can concentrate for less than 20 minutes, 10-12 years old can concentrate for less than 25 minutes, and those over 12 years old can concentrate for less than 30 minutes). Generally speaking, children suffer from inattention and poor self-control due to insufficient true yin, liver fire and excessive internal heat.

The three diagnostic methods introduced in this article can all be used as the basis for confirming a child's ADHD. Therefore, when parents suspect that their children are ill, they can conduct tests item by item under the guidance of a professional doctor to achieve 100% accuracy. In addition, once the diagnosis is confirmed, you should actively receive treatment to make the symptoms disappear as soon as possible.
