What is cough mycoplasma infection in children?

Children are often prone to infection because of their weak body resistance, especially when infected with Mycoplasma. Most people will experience severe coughing, but many parents do not know much about this phenomenon, so they often think that their children's cough is caused by a cold and getting angry, and do not pay enough attention to it. So what is the reason for children's cough caused by Mycoplasma infection?

Mycoplasmas are the smallest microorganisms that live outside cells. It is a type of prokaryotic cell-type microorganism that lacks a cell wall. Its size is generally between 0.3-0.5um and it is highly polymorphic, with various forms such as spherical, rod-shaped, filamentous, and branched.

Among the 16 mycoplasmas isolated from the human body, 5 are pathogenic to humans, namely Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Mycoplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis, Mycoplasma genitalium and Mycoplasma fermentum. The genus Ureaplasma includes Ureaplasma urealyticum, Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasma hominis, which are pathogenic to humans. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a major cause of respiratory tract infection and pneumonia. Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasma hominis cause urogenital tract infections.

Mycoplasma pneumonia is also known as primary atypical pneumonia. Mycoplasma pneumonia can occur throughout the year, but is more common in winter and may have small epidemics. Mycoplasma encephalitis is a common type of pneumonia among preschool children and young people. Mycoplasma pneumonia is mainly transmitted through droplets and has a long incubation period of up to 2 to 3 weeks.

Although mycoplasma pneumonia has a long course, severe lung lesions, and slow absorption of inflammation, the prognosis is good in most cases and there are few complications. Genital mycoplasma infection is a newly identified sexually transmitted disease in recent years. It is mainly transmitted through sexual contact in adults, and in newborns, it is infected from the mother's reproductive tract during delivery. The site of infection in adult males is the urethral mucosa, and in females, the site of infection is the cervix. It mainly causes conjunctivitis and pneumonia in newborns.

When a child has a severe cough or is infected with mycoplasma, the child should be taken to the hospital for examination and treatment in time without delay. Mycoplasma infection can easily cause pneumonia. The incubation period of this disease is very long. If not treated in time, it may put the child's life in danger, especially for newborn babies, who should be treated in a timely manner.
