What to do if children have sore neck

Every mother hopes that her child can grow up healthy and happy, and does not want her child to have any problems. However, the incidence of neck soreness in children is very high nowadays, which has caused great trouble to many of us and many mothers. It is very necessary to receive treatment as soon as possible in order to recover health faster. Let us learn about the treatment methods for neck soreness in children.

1. Medication

Western medicine can play an auxiliary symptomatic treatment role in the treatment of this disease. Analgesics, sedatives, vitamins (such as B1, B12) can be used. Hospital medications can include: vasodilators and Chinese herbal medicines, which have a certain effect on relieving symptoms. Traditional Chinese medicine can play a causal role in the treatment of this disease. However, we should pay attention to the side effects of oral Chinese medicine, which can cause great damage to the liver, kidneys, and gastrointestinal tract.

Massage therapy

① Put the middle, index and ring fingers of your left or right hand together, find the tender points in the painful area of your neck (mostly in the sternocleidomastoid muscle, trapezius muscle, etc.), and massage from light to heavy for about 5 minutes. You can do this alternately with your left and right hands.

② Use the hypothenar to strike the shoulders and neck quickly and briskly from top to bottom and from bottom to top for about two minutes.

③ Use your thumb and index finger to pinch the Fengchi and Jianjing points on the left and right for 1-2 minutes.

④ Press the stiff neck point (between the 2nd and 3rd metacarpal bones on the back of the hand, 5 fen behind the metacarpophalangeal joint) with your thumb or index finger, and continue for 2-3 minutes when you feel a sore and tight feeling.

⑤Finally, perform activities such as flexion, backward movement, left and right tilting, and rotation of the head and neck. This movement should be performed slowly and do not use excessive force.

2. Traction therapy

In the past, "traction" was one of the preferred methods for treating neck pain. However, in recent years, it has been found that many patients with cervical spondylosis have not only failed to improve their cervical spondylosis after using "traction", especially those who have used "traction" for a long time, but their cervical spondylosis has worsened.

3. The most important thing is to change bad habits and avoid always lowering your head, because the neck will bear the greatest pressure when you lower your head. You should move your neck frequently. A commonly used therapy is kite flying, which involves looking up at the sky and turning your neck, and then massaging it will feel very comfortable. Don’t use a pillow that is too high when sleeping at night, and it’s best not to use a pillow at all. If the effect is not obvious, you need to go to the hospital for physical therapy or seek Chinese medicine massage.
