Why do newborns always fart?

Newborns are still relatively immature and many organs of their bodies are not well developed. For example, newborns often fart because the baby's digestive system is still very good, so mothers don't need to worry too much about this. It is normal and healthy for newborns to fart. In normal times, you should be careful not to feed your baby too much irritating food, as this will cause digestive system disorders. Let’s talk about the reasons why newborns always fart.

The baby's gastrointestinal tract is immature, he or she exhales a lot of gas, farts a lot, and cries frequently for unexplained reasons. This phenomenon is medically known as infantile colic. Infant colic refers to a healthy, well-nourished baby who cries for at least three hours a day, at least three days a week, for more than three weeks. Most babies start to show symptoms 2-3 weeks after birth and gradually improve after 3-4 months. Since infant colic is a problem in the baby's development, parents do not need to worry and should understand that this kind of crying by the baby is not a disease. At the same time, keep the baby in a comfortable position as much as possible to help the child defecate smoothly. If the situation is more serious, you can take some drugs to improve gastrointestinal motility.

Farting is caused by good digestion or indigestion. There are two situations. Parents can observe the baby carefully to see if the baby has any uncomfortable expression or performance when farting. Some babies will twist their bodies when farting, as if they are uncomfortable, and their little faces will become very red. This may be caused by indigestion. If your baby does not feel uncomfortable and passes gas easily, then there is no need to worry. This is a sign that the baby's digestive system is functioning normally.

Another possibility is that the baby inhales some air while feeding. If air is inhaled, it must be expelled, so it is normal to fart a lot. Or the lactose in the milk is not completely digested, and the rest becomes gas, which the baby needs to expel by farting.

Mothers are usually more worried about some abnormal behaviors of their babies, but don’t worry too much about your baby. If the baby farts, it can be said that it is relatively normal. That is because the baby eats some gas into the stomach when eating, so the baby will expel excess gas from the body by farting.
