Most postpartum women, when their milk supply is sufficient and their babies cannot finish it, usually suck out the excess milk and freeze it for storage, so that when the milk supply is insufficient, they can thaw it and feed it to the baby. However, as we all know, although this method is good, many mothers do not know how to thaw frozen milk so as not to lose the nutrients in the milk. How to feed frozen milk to babies? When breastfeeding, put the frozen breast milk in the milk storage bag in the refrigerator to thaw, and then warm it up after it becomes liquid. Only after the warming is completed can the seal be opened to pour out the milk, but the seal must be opened after warming, otherwise stratification will occur. Even if breast milk is stratified, it will not have much impact on the nutritional value and can be fed to the baby after being shaken well. However, the taste of the shaken milk may be slightly different from the original taste of the breast milk and will have a fishy smell. Some children may not be willing to accept it. Once warmed breast milk is ready, do not refreeze and rewarm it repeatedly. This is something you need to pay special attention to. How to heat frozen milk It can be heated in a water-bath milk warmer. If you are refrigerating breast milk, you can soak the breast milk container in warm water so that the milk absorbs the heat in the water and becomes warm. While soaking, shake the container from time to time to ensure that the breast milk is heated evenly. If it is frozen breast milk, it should be thawed by soaking in cold water first, and then reheated like refrigerated breast milk. Set the temperature of the milk warmer to 40℃ and heat the breast milk in water, making it easier to control the temperature. Why does frozen breast milk have a fishy smell? Breast milk is white blood so it will have a fishy smell if stored for too long. Breast milk is the juice produced by the breasts of postpartum women for feeding babies. Breast milk contains lactoferrin (important), carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and taurine. Breast milk does not have a milky smell when it is just expressed, but it will have a milky smell after it cools down. This is normal. Breast milk is rich in protein and of course contains certain enzymes. After being left for a period of time, the enzymes and proteins will react and naturally produce a smell. So, breast milk is white blood, so it will have a fishy smell if stored for too long. |
