Where can children with ADHD be cured?

Many people think that ADHD in children is a problem of children being too naughty and restless; some parents, when they hear the word ADHD in children, think that their children have developmental problems or congenital diseases. In fact, none of these statements are accurate. What exactly is ADHD in children? Where can ADHD in children be cured? Let us take a closer look at the world of science today.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common abnormal behavior problem in children, also known as mild brain dysfunction or mild brain dysfunction syndrome or attention deficit disorder.

The intelligence of these children is normal or basically normal, but they have defects in learning, behavior and emotions, such as difficulty concentrating, short attention span, excessive activity and impulsive emotions, which affect their academic performance. It is difficult for them to get along with others at home and at school, and makes daily life difficult for parents and teachers. It is also believed in China that a considerable number of school-age children suffer from the disease, accounting for about 1% to 10% of all primary school students, and that boys are far more likely to suffer from the disease than girls. Premature children are more likely to suffer from this disease.

1. Drug treatment. Drug treatment is only needed when ADHD seriously affects children's learning and disrupts family and school order. Medication must be taken as directed by a doctor. Commonly used drugs include amphetamine, methylphenidate, and pemoline.

2. Environmental treatment. The therapeutic effect can be achieved by improving the environment by changing the attitudes of parents, teachers and society towards patients. This includes the following:

(1) Clarify the nature of the disease and treat it correctly. Parents should neither discriminate against, scold or beat them, nor use illness as an excuse to be overly accommodating, making them more willful and aggressive; they should educate their children patiently while also being strict with them. Parents should take the initiative to maintain regular contact with school teachers, provide feedback to each other, and jointly promote the improvement of their children.

(2) Gradually correct hyperactive behavior and encourage children’s quiet behavior. Use verbal praise, encouragement and other reinforcement methods to gradually cultivate their habits of being able to sit still and concentrate on studying and doing things.

(3) Let children participate in a variety of cultural, sports and social activities so that they can have the opportunity to vent their excess energy.

(4) Cultivate good living habits in children. They should be allowed to develop the habit of keeping to a regular schedule and living habits from an early age, ensure adequate sleep, and cultivate good habits of concentrating on one thing at a time from a regular life, for example, not watching TV while eating. Do not indulge your children's interests; for example, do not let them watch TV or movies for an unlimited amount of time.

(5) Eliminate adverse stimuli or mental stress factors that cause ADHD in the family, coordinate family relationships, ease the family atmosphere, and prevent children from becoming restless, anxious, nervous, and excited due to family factors.

Every parent hopes that their child is healthy and no different from their peers. If there is any problem with the child, the parents will worry about it. Especially diseases like ADHD in children, which are invisible and intangible, and sound difficult to understand, leave parents helpless. It is recommended that parents take their children for regular check-ups and pay close attention to changes in their children's growth.
