Does baby tooth decay affect tooth replacement?

Does baby tooth decay affect tooth replacement?

Baby tooth decay is mainly caused by the fact that children like to eat sweets and do not brush their teeth regularly. I hope mothers can pay attention to their baby’s oral hygiene and ask their babies to brush their teeth every night. Baby's tooth decay will not affect the baby's tooth replacement. These teeth will be replaced. However, after the tooth replacement period, tooth decay will need to be corrected by filling.

1. Will children's tooth decay affect tooth replacement?

If children have severe tooth decay, it will affect their tooth replacement.

Childhood caries is a relatively common disease. Most children between the ages of 3 and 6 will suffer from caries. However, because this disease is so common, many parents do not take it seriously, thinking that these are deciduous teeth that will be replaced sooner or later, so they do not need treatment. In fact, this understanding is wrong.

Reason: If a child's tooth decay is not treated promptly, it will affect the child's appetite, directly affect the child's development, and also affect the appearance of the new teeth.

Severity of dental caries in children:

If a child's tooth decay is already serious and has reached the bottom of the teeth, and pulpitis, apical inflammation and other conditions have occurred, these conditions can affect the child's tooth replacement, causing the new teeth to grow slowly, or affecting the appearance of the new teeth. It should be treated early.

Treatment of dental caries in children

1. Grinding of carious tissue

Target: The treatment area is wider than that of drug therapy. It is mainly used for the treatment of teeth with extensive caries, such as caries on the entire occlusal surface and peeling of the enamel or dentin layer, which cannot be made into a filling cavity.

Method: Focus on grinding away the overly sharp tooth tips, tooth edges and surface carious tissue to prevent the further development of caries.

2. Remineralization of carious tissue

Target: The method of remineralization of carious tissue is suitable for early stage caries.

Method: Use artificially prepared mineral liquid for gargling. Clinically, the use of remineralization methods to treat early caries can reduce the chalky color or stop its progression. Remineralization therapy is simple, effective, painless and safe.

3. Filling method of carious tissue

Target: For teeth that have already formed substantial defects, filling is currently the most widely used and most effective method, and is the most commonly used method for treating carious tissue. This is what is often referred to as a filling.

Method: Mainly use the filling cavity type to fix the filling material on the tooth, restore the tooth defect and function, so as to maintain the tooth shape and maintain the integrity of the dentition.

4. Inlay

Targeted at: Used for large cavities on the posterior occlusal surface or fractured posterior teeth, filling of the proximal surface cavity cannot restore the adjacent relationship with the adjacent teeth, and as a treatment for semi-fixed bridge abutment teeth.

Method: A restoration made of metal or other materials that fits the tooth cavity and is embedded in the cavity is called an inlay, and the one that covers the occlusal surface is called a cap inlay.
