Does a 7-month-old baby who is very active have ADHD?

People's understanding of ADHD is that children are more active than other children, and they seem to never have time to rest, whether at home or in kindergarten. Some parents even find that their seven-month-old babies are very active, as if they have endless energy in their bodies, and they are either running or jumping. So the question is, does a 7-month-old baby have ADHD?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), also known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or mild brain dysfunction syndrome, is a common behavioral disorder in children.

The intelligence of these children is normal or basically normal, but they have defects in learning, behavior and emotions, which are mainly manifested in inattention, short attention span, excessive activity, impulsive emotions, generally poor academic performance, and difficulty getting along with others at home and school. In daily life, parents and teachers often feel helpless.

The prevalence of ADHD is reported to be between 5% and 10% abroad, and domestic surveys show it is above 10%. Boys are more likely to suffer from ADHD than girls. Premature babies and babies born by cesarean section have a higher chance of suffering from ADHD, at approximately 6% or more.

Genetic factors

Studies have shown that this disorder is related to genetic factors, with a heritability of 0.75-0.91. The mode of inheritance is still unclear and may be multi-gene inheritance. Molecular genetic studies have shown that the disorder is associated with polymorphisms in the dopamine receptor gene.

Neurophysiological factors

Children with this disorder have a high rate of EEG abnormalities, with the main normal being slow-wave activity. Adding EEG power spectrum analysis registration found that the slow wave power increased, the alpha wave power decreased, and the average frequency decreased. This suggests that children with this disorder have delayed central nervous system maturation or insufficient awakening of the cerebral cortex.

Mild brain injury

Mild brain damage caused by various diagnoses and reasons during pregnancy, perinatal period and after birth may be the main cause of this disorder in some children, but there is no single type of brain damage present in all children with this disorder, nor does it mean that all children with such damage will suffer from the disorder. Moreover, many children who have been involved in traffic accidents do not have evidence of mild brain damage.

Neurochemical factors

Studies have shown that this disorder may be related to central neurotransmitter metabolic disorders and dysfunctions, including: reduced dopamine and adrenaline turnover rates, dopamine and norepinephrine dysfunction, etc.
