One-year-old child scratched by rabbit cage

Many people believe that rabies virus is carried by dogs, and as long as you are not bitten by a dog, you will not be likely to contract rabies virus. In fact, all mammals may be carriers of the rabies virus. Even a seemingly harmless rabbit may be a carrier of the rabies virus. Therefore, when a one-year-old child is scratched by a rabbit, he or she should be vaccinated in time and should not be taken lightly.

This is not to scare people, nor is it unwise. On the contrary, it is unwise to say that people do not need to be vaccinated.

1. All mammals may carry the rabies virus. There are many medical precedents of rabies attacks after being bitten by mice, rabbits, minks, monkeys, and even humans, which are not cats or dogs.

2. Even among healthy animals, 22% may be carriers of the virus due to contact with virus-contaminated sources. Some may not have an attack due to the incubation period or their own immunity, or may carry the virus for life but have no attack. If your pet has not received the appropriate vaccinations, or the vaccinations have expired, they may be infected. In addition, cleaning the wound does not necessarily kill the virus completely.

3. The human skin and mucous membranes are the barriers against foreign bacteria and viruses, not the skin. As long as the skin and mucous membranes are damaged, they can be infected.

4. Rabies virus is a neurological virus. Once it breaks out, there is no cure. There is only one case in the world where a person was cured by his own immunity.

5. Some people do not develop rabies attacks after being bitten due to two reasons: 1. The incubation period of rabies virus can be as long as 9 years, so it is impossible to explain the problem in a short period of time. 2. Human immunity can kill the virus. Most people rely on their own immune system to resist the virus after being infected.

6. Ultimately, it's a matter of probability. The probability of your rabbit being infected is multiplied by the probability of infection and then the probability of an outbreak. The probability is relatively small, but a small probability does not mean that you will not win. You can accidentally win 5 million by buying a lottery ticket, right? Why gamble with yourself? Of course, if you don't care or are reluctant to spend money, the country will not be strong enough for you to get an injection.

7. In addition, those who say that hospitals make money from rabies vaccines should first understand the situation clearly. The purchase price of domestic vaccines is around 55, and the dry powder frozen vaccine is 80-100. This is the price for getting vaccinated, and the hospital only charges an injection fee and a registration fee.
