How to deal with bacterial infection in children's cough

What to do if children cough frequently is a concern for parents and is also some knowledge that must be learned. Well, some seasons are high incidence seasons for children's coughs. For example, in winter, when the temperature is low, children are more likely to cough. So what are the causes of children's coughs? As parents, how can we prevent and treat it? Let’s take a look with the editor below.

Reasons why children often cough:

1. Children often cough due to recurrent upper respiratory tract infection

This is a respiratory tract infection in children that causes coughing. Since the child may be infected by different viruses, the symptoms may be better or worse. This is also a common reason why children cough continuously or from time to time.

2. Children often cough due to residual cough after viral infection

This phenomenon can be said to be a continuation of the above reasons, and it cannot be cured even after two or three weeks. Usually, when children cough for this reason, the condition is not serious and it does not have much impact on the children.

3. Children often cough due to bronchial asthma

Asthma is a common childhood disease that is often under- or over-diagnosed. Almost every child who suffers from a persistent cough has been told by a doctor that he may have asthma. These children often develop what was called a night cough, now called cough asthma.

The time when night coughing occurs most frequently is the first two hours after going to bed. The coughing is most severe between 7pm to 9pm and 6am to 8am.

Nursing methods for children with frequent coughs:

1. When a baby coughs violently, it is best to hold him up so that his upper body is at a 45-degree angle. At the same time, gently pat the baby's back with your hands to loosen the secretions adhering to the trachea and facilitate coughing out.

2. Children who cough frequently should maintain the air temperature. Temperature and cleanliness are very important. The room temperature should be kept at around 20-26℃, with regular ventilation and indoor humidity at 50%-70%, which is conducive to diluting sputum and coughing it out. If the air is too dry, sputum will stick to the tracheal wall and be difficult to discharge.

In daily life, we need to pay attention that children who cough frequently should drink small amounts of water multiple times, and the water temperature should not be too hot to avoid irritating the throat. If a child coughs frequently and coughs severely at night, you can slightly lift the pillow to reduce the irritation to the throat caused by the child's cough. In addition, eat more light foods and avoid foods that are too irritating and contain too much salt.
